I thought astronauts came back younger than they went? (Or at least they hadn't aged as fast as everyone else)

They aren't younger than when they went, but they have aged slower.  The same would go for someone who lived at the top of Everest all their lives.

That's why I said time-travel in the usual sense of the term.  Astronauts age more slowly than someone on earth because of the time dilation effect, which is a central concept in Einstein's theory of general relativity.  In fact, predictions based on this have been proven using atomic clocks and the experiments brought back results that the theory said it would.  Showing that a theory isn't just a guess.

I would make so bold - & I hope you do not take offence at my finely-couched wordage - that the notion suggested is total cock, of the poppy variety.

Physically, according to their own clocks, they'd age at the same pace as someone on earth.  But if an astronaut went into space for exactly 40 years (according to his clock) and came back to earth, more than 40 years will have passed on earth.  DUCY?

If the Astronauts take an atomic clock with them and come back after, what they consider to be, 40 years more time will have passed on earth than has in space..Therefore they will have "aged" less compared to someone who stayed on earth.
