I'm only just now beginning to realise how bad I am at maths.

I always used to think I was good at it because I could reckon money up pretty quickly, but when I come to think about it for most of my life that has only meant handling sums totalling a few hundred.

All this malarkey might as well be written in Klingon for all the use it is to me.

The 'purer' you go in maths the less numbers you use, that was the type of Maths I studied for my degree - it's about as much use as Klingon in general.

It always looks so fascinating though, and you can use it to prove any theory or win any argument.

I bet you could come up with an equation that proves that Mitch is underweight.

Speaking of maths, I've just worked out that it costs about 7p to make a cup myself a cup of tea at home.

Teabags: PG tips, special offer £4 for 200       2p

Three Canderel  sweetners at 99p per 100       3p

Boil a pint of water at 2p per ltr                     1p

Milk 1% of a £1 per 2ltr carton                      1p

Total                                                        7p

About $700/t, apparently. Although I may have searched for the wrong thing. But sounds about right.

Is "/t" per ton?

I'm presuming the $/mt is $/metric ton. Could be wrong.

Is just a fancy way of showing what an means
which is a multiplied by a n times

If you want some serious maths to think about Tom, try reading Fermat's Last Theorem which is an account of mathematicians' attempts at proving that

Even if you don't get the maths side of it, it's still an interesting read.

You omitted the cost of labour.

Gotta say Tom, your Diary was much missed, but the break has done you good, you are in fine form, if a little argumentative.

Was VERY relieved at the contents of your PM, phew! Thank you.

I an NOT argumentative.

Actually, I am prone to being a bit blunt with people that I am at ease with. I just assume they know I mean no harm.

I've been watching The Young Apprentice on BBC1.

I'm not really much into this type of cannon fodder TV, but a have to grudgingly admit, it is rather splendid viewing.

That girl who got sacked last night. She brought it on herself. Fancy taking two strong candidates like those back into the boardroom?

Also.....

Do you find this lad as irritating as I do?

And who do you think he looks like? Bridie says Beethoven, I say Gordon Brown.

Yes, beyond tilting. Only watched the first ep, cba with it. I haven't even got round to watching Attenborough yet,  which is a must, too busy grinding Breaking Bad at the minute.

Attenborough = Stunning.

The Origins of US = Stunning.

WTF is Breaking Bad?

US tv series about an under achieving professor who finds out he has lung cancer and as his family is broke he decides to start making cyrstal meth with an ex student of his that was a druggie in order to leave them comfortable when he dies . It's really good.

I mean, what did Jesus have for his Christmas dinner?

He was probably celebrating the Jewish festival of Chanuka so that would mean chopped liver, chicken soup with matzah-balls, followed by salt-beef and latkes.

Ralph!

Good to hear from you.

I was thinking about you the other day and I decided that you represent all that is good about football supporters. I'm going to ditch Wednesday and adopt Arsenal as my team in honour of you.

PS- Salt beef sounds great. What are latkes?

PPS- I love salt, do you think it's really harmful?

I've just discovered that Mrs Red is lying to me about the price of tea bags. (She claims I wasn't listening properly).

I wonder what else she's lying to me about...
