There's a huge celebration in Leicester. It seems to all about eating & dancing.

Watched that series Geo, now I'm on the next one "The Paras".
I might join the army in another life. (Well I would if I wasn't such a big girls blouse).

Here too. Hospitality seems to be part of the culture.
I went to a Sikh temple once. They told me to wash my hands and take my shoes off, and then they fed me. (Very nice it was too).
Apparently, anyone can go to a Sikh temple and they will be fed.

Sikh weddings are the best. Loads of great food and drink. Only downside is that they finish dead early for the guests (well the ones I've been to did), and come 6pm you're all dressed up (and quite tanked up) with nowhere to go.

It's a real winter morning here today. Strong winds, rain going sideways. If it's the same in Brighton it's perfect for Vinny's bracing walk on the beach.
The birds are performing aerobatic miracles to land on the feeders, especially the robin, who isn't as agile the tits. They fly downwind and as they draw level with the feeders, they do an elegant little half-roll to deftly grab on to the wire mesh.
The robin's technique involves powering upwind until he is about six feet beyond the feeder, and then just closing his wings and allowing himself to be flung against the perspex tube that holds the seed. He just about has time to grab a bit of millet before being blown off the feeder and into a nearby conifer.
A minute later he starts the whole process over again.
The jackdaws arrived on foot this morning, looking for all the world like a gang of council workers with their donkey-jacket plumage drawn tightly about their shoulders. They call loudly to each other as they swagger about and dig the lawn. Laddish chatter peppered with obscenities. A brief disagreement, a joke, squawks of laughter.

Two rescued but six still missing.
It's strange, but you don't really expect to read about ships being wrecked during storms in this day and age, and even if they are, you expect rescue services to arrive in an instant, locating survivors effortlessly with magical electronic equipment.
Good luck to these lads, I hope they make it.

it was a real struggle to walk along the pier yesterday, bracing is def the right word
have you ever seen the starlings in brighton tom. 40-50k of them come back to roost on the 2 piers every night but spend quite a while dancing around in the sky first. spent about half an hour watching them last night, they're amazing

No I never have. I'll make a point of looking next time.
Meanwhile, I found this.

Just how many different tranklements do girls need to get themselves clean? I can't get into the shower because it's packed to the gills with rammel.
Sponges, (round & square, synthetic & natural) Rocks, egg-shaped, smooth & abrasive. Scrubbing brushes, nail brushes, flannels, shampoos, conditioners, oils, colour-restorers, tinctures, lotions, potions, primpers, crimpers, and various other wondrous paraphernalia, the function of which I dare not even guess at.
What's wrong with half a pound of carbolic and some elbow grease FFS?

Luckily you'll never find out what's wrong with that because the women in your life know better.

Fame at last.
Actually. Bobalike bought the book for me about 4/5 years ago.
