So it looks like Hurricane Bawbag is heading for the civilised part of the country.

What are we going to call it?

A bit of wind and rain?

Discussing the weather now? Excellent decision, the discerning reader likes a bit of weather, though ideally, before it actually arrives.

I was actually discussing the North-South divide.

The Scots went for 'Hurricane Bawbag' and the Southerners will probably go for something like 'Hurricane One's Arse'.

I was just wondering what the real people in Yorkshire will call it.

'Hurricane Spawney Eyed Wazzock'?

I tried to pinch one of the blocks from the St Pancras Lego Christmas tree and discovered that they are all glued together. (Presumably to prevent people pinching them).

How the Devil are they going to take it down?

Deliciously sarcastic.

I watched them building it, a few weeks ago. The branches came in pre-made, so I assume in answer to your question;

They pull each branch out at the junction with the trunk...... Just like all artificial trees, I guess

What are the chances of finding half-a-dozen double-yolk eggs in a single box?

According to the British Egg Information Service, (I love the fact that this exists) one in every thousand eggs on average is a double-yolker.

A simple maths question? No. There are other factors at play. Can you guess what they are?

Never mind. the answer is here, except it isn't.

What kind of cockamamie journalism is that?

PS- A mention in despatches for the best ungoogled guess at the origin of the word 'Cockamamie'

So I wonder if they are actually individual blocks, or just big lumps of plastic moulded to look like blocks?

I think certain birds have a lot more double yolkers than others. I remember when growing up getting bantam eggs from my uncles farm down the road, we used to regularly get double yolkers with those.

The origin of the word cockamamie is from an old black poker-player who generally plies his trade in the Golden Nugget cardroom and goes by the name of The Trapper.

He invented the word in his youth and it became popular in the South and West of the USA.

He also invented the phrase "I done got caught in the trap".

Where were you 6 months ago!!

http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=53585.0

The eggs I bought were all from the same batch and all extra large.

So it looks like the odds against the first egg I cracked being a twin were about 1000/1. This seems reasonable. Out of all the hundreds of eggs I've ever had I think I'd only seen 1 or 2 previously.

By the time I got to the last one it was a dead cert.

Apparently there is one person in Britain who is a licensed lego builder and he makes all the big structures you see.

But if I was working for the Lego marketing department and I knew that they were all actually premoulded to look like they'd been built from lego, that would be just the kind of story I'd provide to the press.

Boring but, the majority of egg producers are struggling to break even at the moment.

Supermarkets are squeezing all sectors in there greed to be the cheapest and biggest.

It's not good IMO Trev. It means people have to work for less and all the skill and pride goes out of everything.

The big new, state of the art battery farm thrives, but the little guys who have been in the game for generations go to the wall.
