No Maureen.

I take all my pics with my phone camera, the 'good' one is always in a drawer with a flat battery.

This is Bridie, my youngest.

I went shopping with her yesterday. Every time she bought something, the conversation went something like this...

That will be £7.99 please.

I'll give you £5.

Eh?

OK, £5.50.

But it's 7.99....

OK, Six quid. Come on, it's Christmas....

But....

£6.50 and that's it.

At this point, the vendor would turn to me for support. I would hold my palms out and shrug my shoulders.

OK. Give me the £6.50.

And as we were leaving, "Don't bring her again!"

I don't mind Graham. My life may never be this good again.

I did manage to accidentally photograph myself when I held the camera the wrong way round....

There's a huge 'Who owns the bird feeder' type power struggle going on between the robins at the moment. The protagonists are:

Mr Small Old Established robin v Mr Big Young Usurper.

BYU has all the physical advantages, hight, weight, reach etc, but Mr SOE has years of experience and a total disregard for his own safety.

The early skirmishes have been short and brutal. they go something like this.

SOE hides in a conifer and peeps at the bird feeder through a gap in the foliage.

BYU lands on said feeder. Doesn't eat, but struts around flexing his muscles.

SOE comes screaming out of the conifer and hits BYU like a scud missile.

They roll around together locked in battle. Sometimes they fall to the ground, sometimes one of them manages to grab a hold of the peanut mesh with one claw and they hang suspended over the fat-ball feeder, jerking around like little red bobbles on a Christmas cardigan.

BYU knows he's bigger and stronger, but he's unnerved by the sheer fury of the assault.

SOE is street-smart, and breaks off the attack before BYU can gather his wits.

BYU flies off over the hedge.

SOE goes back into the conifer and resumes his vigil....

Who's going to win? I honestly don't know. I think I'm kinda rooting for the little guy, buy at the moment, it's too close to call.

An unusual angle as everyone seems to want the side view.

A cock goldfinch. That's just brilliant Rod. I think you dad has taken the lead in the photo comp. (What camera did he get?)

Please post your other entries on here...

Sadly, the robin pic isn't mine. I'm not quick enough. I got it from google images.

I tidied up and cropped your photo.

Flipped it's axis and did a bit of photoshopping as well.

Think it's an improvement.  thumbs up

Great pic

Whats the reason for the golf ball in the feeder Rod?

Geo

The lid of the feeder broke - so I rigged it up with some wire, but one day we found that a blue tit had gone in through the open top when the nuts were low & got stuck. We got it out & it was fine, but we started putting something in to stop it happening again. My Dad being a galoot he keeps filling the thing up without removing the golf ball - then popping another one on. There's now more golfballs than nuts unless I clean them out (which I do fairly regularly anyway).

Long story for such a daft thing, but there we go.

He's got one of these:

A Fuji finepix bridge camera. 30x zoom - I think there was some zoom envy going on with my new one......

Lovely job tidying the pics Red - I'll need to give that a try.
