Wow! It's a bit Mork & Mindy here this morning to say the least.

We are getting battered in Edinburgh

Today it's not just the Mars bars that are getting battered in Scotland.

Our landlord for the office had about 45 solar panels installed pre the 12/12 deadline. We've been off over xmas, but noticed something of a lack this morning - appeared to be several missing. As of 10 minutes ago, there are approx 3 left on the roof. It's a flat roof, so they were mounted on frames to angle them correctly. When they were installed, we did wonder how they'd fix them to the roof. As the frames came over the side, we realised that they hadn't, they were weighted down with old car tyres. [ ] Clever. The Beemer several of them landed on appears to be mostly unharmed, amazingly.

Its a rather crap picture through my steamed up wet window, but you can see the remains of the frame hanging off the roof, and the collected panels in a stack at the bottom. The empty space in the car park contained the car they mostly landed on Smiley. The whole roof had them on - the frame to the right had disappeared over xmas.

Oh dear...

Great topical story, with a picture too. Ever thought of taking up reporting?

More pics with stories, pics without stories, or stories without pics please.

My bike ride today was exhilarating to say the least. When the wind was in my face I was doing 5mph max, even when I was standing on the pedals, but when the wind was at my back I was doing 40 easy. it was like being on a motorbike.

I was near the village of Earl Shilton when I found a convenient spot to stop for a wee. there was a nice wide verge and a good big hedge to get behind.

Apparently, I wasn't the first person to answer the call of nature on this particular stretch of road. A few yards further on I saw this.....

Here's an interesting one.

The USS Phoenix was involved in several skirmishes during the second WW and survived the attack on Pearl Harbour virtually unscathed. It was reckoned to be a very lucky vessel.

In 1951 it got decommissioned and sold to another country where it was renamed and carried on in service for another 31 years. Then it became the first ship to be sunk by a nuclear submarine.

It new name was "The General Belgrano"

The cover that you found this morning is probably a gas migration / water quality monitoring point although I have never seen that type of cover
Either to obtain readings from an existing landfill or to obtain background readings before a landfill is started

Doh heard it last night on an old QI.

I wouldn't have seen it on Tikay's diary as there's no art or culture on there as a rule.

Might have to peek now and then to avoid makeing an arse of myself.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
