China rose and the Dower House (Indian) are both top quality for such a small town. Actually drove through Bawtry going the back roads to Dtd last month having been delayed on the motorway the day before.  We go M18 / M1 all the time but my preferred root is to follow the Trent bank  from our doorstep down through Newark then onto Nottingham. Brings back so many happy memories of match fishing on the trent in its heyday. Smiley

I would love a night at Bawtry auctions for old time sake too

If you come via Newark then I might nip you for a lift soon. We only have one car and if the mrs has some important shopping trip i am housebound!

Jealous of the Redpolls

I'm sure Tom will save some seeds for you if you ask.

Redpolls are difficult yo sex outside the breeding season Tony. In another few weeks the male will have a nice salmon-pink breast, but in the meanwhile we have to rely on more subtle clues.

I think we have one of each on the feeder. The boy, (The one at the back) has a more pronounced black 'bib' and his striations are a bit heavier.  the girl, (The one in front) has very fluttery eyelashes.

I was quite impressed by these folding lamp-posts at Hinckley station. The workman attaches a little hydraulic bottle jack, lowers the post, paints it, cleans the bulb and then jacks it back up.

Spiffing!

I haven't heard from Maureen in a while so I bumped Reece's thread.

Then I got to thinking..  I haven't heard from Boldie for ages. Anyone know the SP?

He is back.

Premature excitamation.  He's only 'sort of' back in honour of Cheltenham week.

Yeah, but won't be this busy for too much longer. Year's end at the business and my client's year's end is June so have to meet some ridic targets for them. It's a crazy life when you wake up at 4.50 and think "crap, I over slept"..or when you're in work and Chris evans has already started which means you're 30 minute late...

As the man said "It's a hard knock life.

Hello Mr Bold. Nice to see you're still on this side of eternity.

Please don't be posting that arm-waving, sounds like an argument, no talent excuse for music on my diary.

Apart from that, you can do as you like. Now

Woo! How about this for a piece of kit?

'Metal moles' begin work below London

Tunnelling work is about to begin on an grand scale in London as the £16bn Crossrail project gets set to build 26 miles (42km) of tunnels beneath the capital.

It's 150 meters long, weighs 960 tonnes, has it's own kitchen and toilet, and travels 100 meters a week.

I just can't wait to see Jeremy Clarkson test-drive it.

Here's one for the camera buffs.

Why, as a (very) amateur photographer, am I proud of this unremarkable shot of a robin?
