No I didn't see it. What's going on, how come no slomo or commentary?
It's just a spectator videoing it.
From what I gather the method of getting onto the green on this hole is by skipping the ball across the pond!
The first player skips their ball and it ends up maybe 20 feet away from the hole.
Then the second player skips his ball across, it seems about the right distance but right of the hole. Then the crowd starts oohing and aaahing as it rolls left towards the hole. Then all hell breaks lose when it drops in.

Woo! Sounds fantastic, except for facebook (Work of the Devil) and the pie and mash.
I don't remember saying you could go to museums or see funny people.

ah you see facebook isn't really the work of the devil, it saves having to type stuff like this up because if you were my facebook friend you'd know all this shiz already. come and join the dark side Tom - it's fun. there are lots of photos and things over there too.

One of these days, I'm going to have a curry and night on the lash with Matt & Stu.
It'd be great, I could get squiffy in Nottingham and no one would dare pick on me.
If you were to time it correctly you might even get a game of pool too.
You would have to teach me how to play. I know I told you I was a whiz at it, but I was yanking your chain a little. I was strictly a snooker player and even that was 20 years ago.
You'd be more than welcome Tom. I think you'd enjoy one of the Thursday nights out. They're reasonably steady and never over step the mark.
Friday / Saturday might be a bit much but again you're very welcome to give it a try.
What's the typical Thursday night
modus operandi
then Matt? (I seem to have come over all foreign tonight).
Well once a month or so we go out with Ralph for a few games of pool followed by a curry. Obviously there's a few beers in there but it's not many.
Thursdays without Ralph tend to follow a routine. We just follow our footsteps from the week before:
Starts at 8.30ish when Stu picks me up in a taxi. Get in to town at about 8.45
First stop is The Revolution at the cornerhouse complex:
Nowhere near as nice as the picture makes out. Bar staff are awful. Beer is far from great but we seem to stick with it come hell or high water. Guinness for Stu, Becks for me.
Next stop is The Orange Tree:
Nice bar, very good beer and generally very pleasant. Bar staff are really nice and there's the occasional tasty one for perving purposes. Guinness for Stu, Becks for me.
Third stop is Keogh's on Mansfield Road:
A really nice Irish bar, far nicer than the picture would suggest. Another decent pint in a pleasant atmosphere. Guinness for Stu, Fosters for me.
Fourth stop is just over the road from Keoghs which is The Peacock:
This is a very oldy worldy type pub that we only really go to because it's convenient. Very small in the bar side that we use and hardly ever anybody in. Nice place though and decent beer. Guinness for Stu and Fosters for me.
Final pub stop is The Rose of England:
This place tends to have a few more people in than the previous 2. Always a nice atmosphere and a reasonable pint. We always see the fish man here as well so Stu has some ridiculously over priced and under quality prawns. Guinness for Stu, Fosters for me and of course Prawns for Stu off this man:
Lastly we head to our favourite curry house, The Noor Jahan. Stu estimates that he's had over 600 curries there in the last 10 years or so. Mine is a more modest 150 ish.
Mr Kahn the owner and chef obviously knows Stu very well so we get really well looked after. We never order off the menu, he just makes us something different every week and 95% of the time it's brilliant. Kingfisher for Stu and water for me (I don't like lager with food).
This all seems a bit routine but it's a routine we like and if it ain't broke there's no need to fix it. There may be the occasional tweak but this is pretty much it every week.
Summary:
You'd like all of the bars apart from the Revolution. They're all very pleasant, it's just a steady night out really. 6 pints for Stu, 5 pints for me and a curry for us both.
Usually get home around half past midnight so not too bad for work in the morning and the low drink count means no hang over which is always handy.
As I said Tom you'd be more than welcome to come along one evening. All we'd have to change is the first bar and I think you'd like every place we went to.
OK. I'm in, so long as I can drink halves to your pints and you promise to carry me if I fall over.
Tom on the Drink, that I'd love to see if you don't mind me inviting myself lol. Too short notice for this Thursday ? I'd happily risk having to work in McD's and miss a days grinding and come down a day earlier than planned.

I'm confused, and narrow-minded.
Don't fret. Matt is one of those rare people that you can have fun arguing with.
Absolutely, & in case anyone thought otherwise, I prefer to walk a mile in tight boots rather than have an argument, but Matt would be one of the nut people on blonde (others that come to mind include MANTIS & Jen,) to have a fun debate with. I don't think I could ever falll out with any of them. For long.
I'd play the role - with some difficulty, as you can imagine - of the narrow-minded one. Or even narrow minded one.
PS - Really enjoyed the last few pages of this Diary, Tom, lovely stuff to awake to on a Sunday morning.

Feel so honoured to get a mention itt!
Very much agree re league of gentlemen - really didn't like it. Little britain was funny in parts but definitely overrated.
I'm back in the uk in 2 weeks
- can I get on this curry, beer and pool night with you 4 older statesmen?
If I was there you know no-one would mess with you guys.
Great news!

Can we now assume that you will be adding olives to your culinary conglomerations then?
Go on. It would give the photoshop boys so much more scope.

Who wrote this news report?
Is he saying you need to employ a special technique to land north-east of Yuma, or am I missing something?

You can, & should, assume NO SUCH THING.
I'd neither add olives, or those lamb tangerine things which I saw mentioned on here yesterday by some culinary philistine.
Olives are devils food. And before you or Ronnie's Dad get all clever on me, NO, I have never tried them, & never will.
Pineapple, on the other hand.......
Talking of olives, I was in Borough Market recently, & people were queueing up to BUY olives. Go figure, the world is full of culinary pervs. These people disgust me. So I snap went to the next stall, & purchased two steak & kidney puddings. Proper food, I think you'll agree.

Even I can't argue with that statement.
Never the less, it is interesting that you bought one for your main course, and one for dessert.
