Stumbled across the story of Irena sendler. Ever heard of her? I'm sure there are loads of similar stories, but I'm a bit ignorant of war stories. I liked this one though.

Good for you Vinny. where did you hear about her?

War spawns thousands of amazing  true stories of courage and survival. WWII stories of the Holocaust and the war in the Pacific are at the same time fascinating, horrifying and uplifting.

Someone linked it to Facebook. She was nominated for a Nobel peace prize. But didn't win. The worthy winner that year was al gore, who done some presentation on global warming. And won. Incredible.

In fairness to Al Gore, he did spend at least 10 minutes reading a speech that someone else had written.

There's a documentary about Irena Sendler floating around somewhere. I thought you had found it.

So, went to DTD last night, then on to Gala. Left around 4am and drove to Matlock so that I would be ready for my 10am meeting.

Slept in the van, temp was well below freezing but my 4 season sleeping bag meant I was was as snug as a bug in a rug.

Woke this morning to a winter wonderland of snow and ice, then got a telephone call to say that the meeting was cancelled.

Had my brekky in Maccy D's, then high-tailed it home to spend the day watching telly and cuddling Mrs Red.

Not a bad life if I don't weaken.

It'snice that you got called when your meeting was cancelled, bit of a pain that you were already there instead of your warm bed.
I think I've told you before about when I've arrived for 9 am meetings after a 3 hour drive just to be told we emailed you a 8am to say it was cancelled. So f'kin tilting.

I agree, but then I am a bit of an old fashioned sort of bloke.

I don't agree with serial harassment, ott innuendo or anything that makes anyone uncomfortable, but let's keep things in proportion.

I whistled at a woman as she passed me on the way to the loo at DTD last night. When she passed me on the way back she wagged her finger at me.

"Ah, but it made you smile" I said.

"How do you know I was smiling when I was facing the other way?" she asked.

"The same way you knew it was me doing the whistling." I replied.

You're such a charmer.

I remember working in Featherstone Prison near Wolverhampton about 10 years ago and one of the men working with me called one of the women in the office 'love' she absolutely flipped like he'd just killed all her family and pets. What really surprised me was that they were both in their 60's.

I'm like you Tom, brought up in a very much male dominated environment. I do believe everybody should be equall but lets be practical about it and use common sense. Sometimes a joke is just a joke. Sometimes these things are said with no malice intended. Life's too short.

Morning Tom.

Sagrada de familia, Barcelona. Stunning.

Unfortunately plagued with scaffolding and cranes. Do you know how on earth they get those huge cranes that are half way up there?

I mean it's not that easy to see, but they aren't on the ground, the cranes actually start halfway up.
