Laxie... Did we play cash together on Friday?

The tone of the above post makes me think we might have?!

If so, nice to meet you!

Ps. I am the guy with the strange hair Wink

I don't play cash, but I was handing out Cheetos to the cash table players at one point on Friday night.  If ya got Cheetos by a nutcase Yank, was a pleasure to meet you too.  Smiley

I only played the team event and the Omaha.  We had Joe Stapleton on our team and I seemed to be the only person in the room who didn't know who he was.  Seems a nice enough guy...if maybe a bit shy.  No joy in the team event, but snuck my way into 12th in the Omaha for a small cash.  Some day I'll win one, but it wasn't to be this week-end.  The Lad who won it was an excellent player though and a nice guy to boot.

Also met The Camel and got a hop at how young he looks in person.  Still not stopped shaking my head after meeting him.

Life has been excellent!

Kids are doing really well.  Brian's first year at uni didn't go so hot.  He struggles desperately with maths and he made the mistake of choosing a maths heavy course.  Not one to give up, he went back to secondary school for an extra year, studied his backside off and managed to get the extra points required to carry on in uni under a different course.  He's been having a brilliant time of it since going back and his grades show it.  I'm so proud of him.

SinĂ©ad graduated secondary school last year, but she'd literally just turned 17 and decided she was too young to head to uni yet.  She got excellent scores on her leaving cert, so she's taken the year off working a part time job and will head to uni in September.  She's still a stubborn pain in the backside though.  Dunno where she gets it from.

Sarah graduates next year and is studying hard for the Leaving cert.  She watched the other two worrying so much about points, and doesn't want to be rushing at the last hurdle to make sure she gets there.  She's been over to visit a couple of times and will be here in May for our 10k run.  Can't wait!  Well, I'm not so excited about the run...lol, but really looking forward to seeing Sarah.  10k run.  WTF was I thinking?!

I've not been demolishing anything lately.  The dogs do that for me.  They've been having parties and all sorts, the lil' darlings.  Our back garden is in a shocking state and I'll be tackling it as soon as it stops snowing.  Maintenance type stuff is all we're at from now on.  Have put major DIY on hold for a while because we're selling this house...and moving to America!!!  Surprisingly, it was Jack's idea after a trip to Ohio to meet the family in October.  The kids are talking about moving over after uni as well.  They've requested we buy a house with a pool.  No pressure then.  lol  So all very good things happening.

How's Mrs. Red and all the family?

Mrs Red & the girls are doing good. In fact probably too good is some ways. To use an old horse man's term, they're all 'good doers.'

For the un horsey, I like this google definition.

"Needs little food and gets fat watching the grass grow"

Your tribe seem to have got everything under control. You must be so proud of them. (Don't they grow up quickly?)

Grannydom awaits.

I'm really nosey about interested in the reasons behind your proposed move to America. Is it because the weather is better, or the lifestyle, or just Jack's adventurous spirit?

And how will it work, can Jack just ship across the pond and take root now that you and he are an item?

Sorry for all the questions. I have an er... enquiring mind.

I too had the pleasure of meeting up with Keith, 'The Camel' Hawkins again for the the first time in ages. He did look to be in rude health.

For a long time, Keith laboured under the impression that I didn't like him, and I assumed that he didn't like me. We both eventually discovered that that wasn't the case. We like each other fine, we just disagree about some things.

Mind you, he does talk some bollocks.

I spent some time with Ian Gascoigne last night as he tore up our cash table. (No, I'm not kidding.)

Ether he forgot to have a shave, or he's attempting to grow a trendy 'last grasp at youth' type beard.

Well I'm on shaving strike for a while (I have a prop bet with a friend) so I'm going to out beard him.

If I were a betting man I'd be 1/1000 Mr Dog in this particular heat. The Gascoignes have never been a particularly hirsute breed (save Ian's flowing locks of the 70s) and for me even at the ripe old age of 26 a fortnight's growth produces nothing more than a Gary Neville-esque dalliance. (NB. almost certain that dalliance can not be used in this context, but I feel like it so there Gram-ma)

"Tore up our cash table" - seems he's been taking his Iancredible Hulk nickname rather too literally - never did like him when he was angry.

We were walking my mom's dog one day when he asked, "Have you ever thought about moving back home?"  I'd thought about it, but I never mentioned it.  My kids want to move over there when they're done with uni and that would mean all of my family is in America.  For me it makes sense.  I was just worried about Jack.  He's lived in the same village all his life.  He was born in a house literally right around the corner from where we are now and all of his family are here, so it never occurred to me he'd even consider a move to America.  It was one of those pipe dreams people have but don't follow through on.  I actually spent more time pointing out the negatives (missing his family) than jumping at the chance initially.

You can get a lot more property for your buck over there and work shouldn't be a problem either.  The heads of the electrician's union are family friends.  That helps because Jack is a sparky and they've said they'll hook him up with work.  We've a lot of connections around the place to sort work for me too, which was a problem in Ireland.  I'd been a stay at home mom for 20 years with one big blank CV.  Doesn't leave many options, but I won't need to worry about that over.

The whole thing is going to take up to two years to sort.  Irish law says you have to be separated four years before you can get divorced and we've done that.  My divorce is in the works now.  Once it's complete, Jack and I are heading to Ohio to get married at my mom's place. My kids and a bunch of APAT people are flying over for it too.  Yourself and Mrs Red are welcome obviously.  Smiley  We just have to try and keep Ger 'the duke' and a few others out of the hot tub that day.  How hard could it be?

Once we're married, we'll come back here, apply for Jack's spouse visa and put the house up for sale. His visa can take 8 - 10 months to come through, but once it's sorted and the house is sold...we're off.  He'll be a fully legal, working resident of the US of A and I'll be home again.

The dogs are coming too.  Do dogs have accents when they bark?  All the Ohio doggies will think our guys are posh.

Wowee! It all sounds so exciting.

No, dogs don't have an accent, but British dogs lift their left leg to pee, and American dogs lift their right.

I love it when people take artistic licence with the written word. It makes me feel all banjo and effervescent.

Good to see you at the weekend Tom.

Glad to hear you got back into profit for March. Better luck for April.

Ihave a couple of questions.

Do you play on line still?

If so do you play cash or tournies?

How come I have a head full of grey and you don't?

   Gramps made me laugh

Always nice to see you Kev, and especially nice to see Ju. (Isn't she looking well these days?)

I don't play very much online these days, certainly no where near as much as I used to. Mostly just the odd satellite or something.

The truth is, I just don't seem to have what it takes to win online these days. When it comes to cash I'm just not good enough. I can't play more than about 4 tables at once, and I can't handle the tracking software, I'm better at MTTs but I don't have the bankroll to cope with the variance.

That being said, I would love to find a way to make a modest living from online poker, it's so convenient,  and it would make my live poker session that much more special.

My hair is shot through with grey already. I'm sure it will be completely white, (or gone altogether) by the time I'm your age.

BTW - Did you know that grey hair is hereditary? You get it from your kids.

Cheeky beggar, I'll have you know I've never been called Gramps  Grin

Had my first grey haid in my twenties, before the kids. However it excellerated once they came along so I have to agree with your hereditary claim.

Yes Joo is lucky to have me isn't she.  Kiss

I met (and hugged) Supernova for the first time this weekend.

She had just bubbled one of the events, (which is always a bit of a bugger) but she should be proud that she went so deep.

She's an absolute sweetie and an excellent card player!  Was gutted for her in that one.  HORSE is no walk in the park, but I don't think Supernova will be happy with the deep run in such a tough game/field.  She wanted that win.

Had a snog from Suzanne. She looked radiant.

I wish she would post more. I love talking to girls.

Speaking of talking to girls, I had a great chinwag with Holdy Foldy. Between us, we made the world a better place. What an absolute ray of sunshine she really is.

I don't know if she has gained a few ounces, but if that is the case they have certainly settled in all the right places. She looks stunning.

We ended up sitting back to back at the cash tables. (Well, side to side, so that we could play footsie.)
