Whether you love him or hate him, you still gotta love him.

Brilliant!

I bet Lady Thatcher could never do that.

I hate loving Boris, but I can't help myself. I've even vote for him.

You read any of his writings? Wonderful writer, though some of it is a bit heavy for me, I just read it in short sessions. Good Bog Book.

What is this 'it' what he writ?

The rather puntastically titled "Have I Got Views For You".

A sort of left-field social commentary of Modern Britain, Boris-style.

Really eye-opening stuff, and made me look much more seriously at Boris's talents, which he tries hard to conceal under a cloak of buffoonery. Born in New York, and a very unusual man indeed, hugely intelligent, but I had to keep  a dictionary at hand, as he uses such a variety of words which have never crossed my radar before. Sort of Tighty with added oomph and zing.

Is that possible?

Disappointed to lack oomph or zing.

My update at the weekend had more oomph and zing that hundreds of comparables on any site. Genuinely creative

Self advert over.

For clarity Rich, Tony said Boris was like you, but with added oomph and zing, and I asked if that was possible, as in could you possibly add more?

God bless you for the A+.

Am trying to write better, take some time to phrase stuff better, but mostly I miss the spot, the harder I try, the more forced it appears.

Am really keen to write a bit of a book, but I have such a limited vocab and range. The idea would be to disappear for 6 or 12 months and really focus on it, I have so much in my head that I want to write about. You would not believe the highs and lows, the variety, the dilemmas I get into. Tomorrow, I am doing something really fantastic, but for job reasons, I cannot discuss it whilst I am still working. Friday, I have a perfect pile of shit to sort. Ditto. So much stuff  I cannot discuss in real time.

Five different folks I am - was - on good terms with fell out with me in the last week, for Sky or blonde reasons. Go figure. Sitting on my little fence of private peace is the hardest thing ever.

Damn you Tom, you made me ramble again.

PS - the supposed book (another on the huge Bucket List) is not intended as a commercial thing, it is just for me, really. Just a weird urge. If I actually put my mind to it, I will do it, you know how obsessed I get.

Bugger. Insert Whitney song title.

You are the greatest, in my eyes, and you know it, but you are not Boris, and he is not you. Both sit where you are, everything is where it should be.

And you don't have a cloak of whatsit.

There are some beautifully interesting village names around the country.

On which topic do you know the link/distinction between the villages of Boothby Graffoe and Royston Vasey?

Boothby Graffoe named himself after an English Village, Royston Vasey is the Village on the fantastic League of Gentleman and is the real Name of Roy Chubby Brown.

I hope you write that book Tikay. I have a dear friend, now in his late 60's and in a home suffering from dementia. In his day he was a Judo international 2nd Dan. He couldn't punctuate or spell to save his life but his poetry was superb, sometimes very deep. We got his writtings, typed them up and had them bound in a book for him. Just two copies, one for him and one for us. One of short poems was written when my daughter Sam was concieved, she's 27 next month. It's a shame Malc probably won't remember any of it.

Incidently Tikay I'm not suggesting you write it before you get dementia.  Cheesy

Just hope you do it, pretty sure you have lots of interesting stuff to put to paper.

How simply wonderful.

Think I may need to get a wriggle on, before it is too late. Does it really sound bad that I check myself for symptoms every day? I give myself the all clear though. Most days.

First, I am often lost in admiration of your prose in general, and of your descriptive prose in particular. I see fine examples so regularly that I assumed it was second nature to you.

Did you know that you can now self-publish via Amazon and it's very cheap because they literally print off copies as they are ordered?

I took part in an event the other day where ethnic groups persecuted during the Holocaust did something traditional to celebrate their culture. For instance, the Ukrainians did Cossack dancing, and a Jewish trio played beautiful music and sang haunting Yiddish melodies.

Because the camp-fire is so central to my culture, I decided to tell a story, just as I would tell it to one or two of my friends while sitting at the fireside.

I told the story of Rantor (Remember the little dog used for badger bating?)

I worried that it would be too graphic for what was in truith a rather refined audience, including the Mayor of Derby, the Dean & other dignitaries from the cathedral, the WI etc.

As I spoke, there was absolute silence, you could have heard a pin drop. I had visions of being escorted from the premises, head bowed in shame.

When I finished, the whole place erupted. Everyone was standing and applauding. It was such an amazing feeling.

Someone came up to me later and told me that I really really must write that story down. I must admit, it did get me thinking, but, like you, I worry about my limitations.

Just do it Tom.

In fact, you already have. There must be 100 of your stories in this Diary alone, & they are all original, beautiufully composed, and highly entertaining.

Tom's Tales.

A man's love affair with animals, birds, nature, & folk.

Barry Carter opened my eyes to electronic publishing, via Amazon. Much the better route in practical terms, but you can't beat a proper, paper, book. A paper book is for ever.

If I were to have to spend the rest of my life without the Internet, TV music, & people, totally alone, I'd be just fine, reading all my books, but doing so electronically does not seem quite the same. The smell & feel of a book is wonderful. Nowadays, I never go anywhere without one.  Books are like dogs, too, you can trust them. They just sit there, forever, waiting, & you can't offend them.

Yes. It's bloody ridiculous. We all get a bit forgetful as we age. That's why the term "Senior moment" was invented.

I'm terrible, I can't remember peoples names for the life of me, and I could no more quote obscure facts that I read yesterday than fly to the moon, but that doesn't mean I'm going barmy, and neither are you.

I do worry about other things though, so I have no room to talk.
