Great job Red. You & Mrs Red of on a trip?

I had one of these in my twenties travelling round Europe. Great on the flat & downhill, but 3 days to get over the Alps!

I did the same, loved my camper van. I googled its number plater a month or so ago and found it still alive and well and is used by a hire company for trips to Cornwall, weddings and stuff.
Here she is!

They rent her out for £650 a week, not a bad little earner. And now worth 15K+ i would imagine.

Wow! It's amazing that you tracked her down. Tell me more about her.

What year is she, like, 1973 ish?

How long since you parted company?

I will see if i can dig out some photos, but got her in around 89-90 and spend many hours working on her, she was original when i got her and then lowered it, new engine, interior, spray, wheels(still the wheels I put on it in the pic above, Empi 5 Spokes) Tempted to hire her for a trip to Cornwall next year, we did cornwall in 1994 when my daughter was born, she travelled with us for a trip down the North coast of Devon to Landsend and back.
Good days indeed.

Looks a smart one Tractor. Mine unfortunately was rather rusty, but in sunlight the orange was dazzling  Smiley

I liked that other VW Camper drivers always acknowledged each other on the road, same with VW Beetle drivers.

Come to think of it though, I doubt your skim-reads miss anything, ever.

Very sweet but it does happen regularly.

Is he an example of penal reform? A victim of an oppressive society? A self-made man? Or a frustrated genius?

Scum-bag you say?

Made a few bad decisions in his teenage years I'd say.

There were a lot of groupies about back in the 1960's and not always easy to tell how old they were or what the agendas were of the prosecution especially when a celebrated black male was in the dock and said groupies were young and white.

Far too easy to condemn out of hand given the political climate.

Was she a teenage girl though, she told Berry she was 21, a while after being sacked from her job at his club she was arrested for prostitution and claimed to be 14, she was an Apache indian and her age unverifiable, the court chose to believe she was 14.

I'm not sure I was singling out Chuck in particular, (although I did find this paragraph a bit disconcerting)

In the late 1980s, Berry bought a restaurant in Wentzville, Missouri, called The Southern Air,[50] and in 1990 he was sued by several women who claimed that he had installed a video camera in the ladies' bathroom. Berry claimed that he had the camera installed to catch red-handed a worker who was suspected of stealing from the restaurant. Though his guilt was never proven in court, Berry opted for a class action settlement with 59 women. Berry's biographer, Bruce Pegg, estimated that it cost Berry over $1.2 million plus legal fees. It was during this time that he began using Wayne T. Schoeneberg as his legal counsel. Reportedly, a police raid on his house did find videotapes of women using the restroom, and one of the women was a minor.

It just seems that every time I look too closely at one of my heroes, I discover something I would rather not have known.
