I will be walking to Elland House tomorrow. I think it's about 5 miles so I'm allowing a good hour.

I reckon you'll need more than an hour - a good hour may be long enough though, depends just how good it is I spose. I'd say 3½ mph is a steady but not dawdling walk, 4 mph is brisk and 4½ mph is hell for leather and 5 mph is barely achievable. If I knew the route and it was 5 miles maximum, I'd reckon on 4 mph and allow 1¼ hours.

YMMQLV

Ah well, I'm committed now. (Shot my mouth off at dinner.)

You might make quiet lovely voulavonts?

Dawn makes drop-dead gorgeous vol-au-vents*. Me? Not so much.

What I actually meant was, taking the oft-used internet acronym of YMMV as my starting point, Your Mileage May Quite Literally Vary.

She says - she'd better provide some proof pdq imo Smiley

Where are they from?

Michigan. (I hope that's how you spell it)

That's how you spell it.  Hmmmmm...I'm from Ohio and it's only the next state over.  Do I sound like them?  Just asked Jack and he says my tone varies.  Then we listened to the Britney clip.  Nope.  Definitely don't do that.  Maybe it's just an age thing.  Something the kids have picked up these days.

Oh yes, it's deffo very recent. And it's not just an American thing, in fact I noticed British girls doing it first.

It is a modern thing Tom. Like "like".

Today was, like, good.

Kids are VERY impressionable, without realising it.

They demand independence......then all copy each other. Wink

How many times have you seen, on this Forum, "sick", "gross spot", "soft tourney" & the like? Read 2+2, adopt the lingo, & everyone becomes a moron or a genius, there are no in-betweens. It is all extremes. "Not bad" & "quite good" no longer exist. Shite or brilliant.

And so, Britney records BOMT, & all the girls start that growling thing. Cool, 'innit?

Do you suppose we might have been exactly the same when we were young, or were we where it was at man?

Of course we were the same, all kids of all generations are.

In my youth, kids DEMANDED to be their own people, then we all copied the long hair exhibited by the Beatles & Stones, & we ALL wanted a Mini, and flared jeans.

I had flared jeans. They began life as ordinary work wear jeans, (before work wear was cool) and they cost 5/11 from Banners on Attercliffe Rd.

I made a cut about a foot long at the bottom of each leg and sewed in a triangle of red curtain material.

I thought they looked great.

We did that too but with more psychedelic/flower-power designs.

I may have paid slightly more for the original jeans though.

I set of a bit earlier after Jack's warning. I'm glad I did because it meant I could dawdle a bit.

What a breathtakingly beautiful morning.

I saw my friend Ralph, (Karabiner) for the first time in ages on Saturday.

He had spent 8 hours on the golf course in 30 degree heat, been home for a shower at 5pm, and then rocked up at DTD for the £50k at 5:15pm as fresh as a daisy.

I've never seen him looking so well. Slim, toned, tanned, & beautifully attired in 'Wall Street' shark grey trousers with Crockett & Jones Highbury shoes and a Sunspel navy blue polo shirt.

We spent the tournament breaks strolling around the car park in the sunshine. Between bouts of small talk with a constant stream on old friends and admirers, he regaled me with tales of his most recent adventures in the field of automotive refurbishment and orthodontics.

The James Bonds and Warren Buffets of this world could learn a thing or two, I'm telling you.

Tom I looked up that Mercedes-Maybach super-limo that Johnny T rolled up in.

I can't be sure of the model but even the 2009's retailed at ~€500K.

Still not sure about the meaning of the number-plate Y I ROK.

We might have to consult our personal plate specialist The Camel on that one.
