look at any vertical lift off plane, the principles that keep it from falling over/down will be the same as for a rocket

This footage of a Harrier jump jet explains it rather eloquently.

Watch from about 2:56 and you will see that there are four thrusters, one at each corner, as it were, to maintain balance.

What about the Falcon heavy that returns the boosters to land simultaneously

https://youtu.be/99llRhH71vA

Well worth watching, however 27mins is when the boosters land.

Have such a man crush on Elon Musk, Apart from SpaceX he owns The Boring Company, this guy is going to change the world and be such an historical figure in the future (not sure if that statement makes sense, 😂)

Thanks for the link Omm. I've had a quick look but I'll watch it all later.

Meanwhile...

Occasionally during my daily walk I see these two birds. They are always together and they are usually on marshy ground.

I've tried to get a pic but a can't get within 300 yards of them.

Thes are at full optical and digital zoom.

Any ideas?

I'm gonna guess some sot of Egret, but there are a whole bunch of sub-species.

I think that's a good shout Tone, I googled white egret and came up with this.

Lovely birds, Tom, & pleasing that they only arrived in the UK in recent times, but are quite widespread here now.

I've seen them all over the world, too - East & West Africa, Hawaii, Domincian Republic, & along the Pacific Coast of the USA, from San Diego up to Portland.

Absolutely beautiful things.

Next question. Why does the gate have the red padlock?

What do you know about Terry Norton?

Just that he was well liked and he died when he was 73.

I'm guessing he was an avid hill walker.

not sure if closer to Salisbury i'd maybe say its a gate to a live firing range area but I assume that is to warn of private property to gas or electricity supply
