I've been watching Thatcher: A Very British Revolution on BBC2.
I was quite struck by this quote, kept in her diary.
YOU have no enemies, you say?
Alas! my friend, the boast is poor;
he who has mingled in the fray
of duty, that the brave endure,
must have made foes! If you have none, 5
small is the work that you have done.
You’ve hit no traitor on the hip,
you’ve dashed no cup from perjured lip,
you’ve never turned the wrong to right,
you’ve been a coward in the fight.

Fabulous stuff.
I watch he first 2 or 3 episodes before going away, & am taping the rest of the series.
Wonderfully produced TV imo.

The Road Not Taken
BY ROBERT FROST
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Robert Frost's Netflix Choice by Brian Bilston
An action thriller
with Liam Neeson
or a post-apocalyptic
world forsaken?
Decides upon The Road not Taken

It took me a while but I got there.

Now I have to look Brian Bilston up....
Described as the 'Poet Laureate of Twitter', Brian Bilston is a poet clouded in the pipe smoke of mystery. Very little is known about him other than the fragments of information revealed on social media: his penchant for tank tops, his enjoyment of Vimto, his dislike of Jeremy Clarkson.
In 2014 he became the first person to be named Pipe Smoker of the Year [Poetry section] and, over the years, he has won numerous awards for cycling proficiency, first aid, and general tidiness.

If Brian Bilston was a blonde I would have to put him in my 'Top 5 enigmatic blondes' pigeon-hole along with you & Tal.

Whoa there, I'm not having that.
Now you have to name the other 2.

Son #2 was helping me put a wheel back on my car, I
got him to do all the work
was explaining how to fully tighten the studs when the car was back on the ground.
"Oops" he said.
His new nickname, amongst others, is 'arms of steel' and I'm googling 'snapped wheel stud removal'.
I'm too old to learn new stuff.

Ooh! You don't see that very often.
Either he was jumping on the wheel brace, or he had a length of scaffolding pole on it, or there was a flaw in the stud, or he's just freakishly strong.

Definitely c).
Just realised it's the locking nut that has snapped. Think I'll just replace all 16 with normal ones, I mean when was the last time you saw a car on bricks with its alloys nicked? And all the locking nut does is induce mild panic when you go to buy a new tyre and the bloke asks where is it.
£13 for 16 from Amazon, they're going to be made of chocolate aren't they?

Binged watched 3/4 before going to work. What a cracking documentary.

You're doing the right thing. I did away with the locking wheel nuts on my daughters car when she lost the key. As you say, who steals alloys these days?

It all went over my head at the time Kev, now it's riveting stuff.
