How's that for a roundabout?

Have a look at the magic roundabout in Swindon. Pretty similar level of craziness.

Was just about to post the same thing. Years ago I used to go to Swindon to play in pool comps. I guy I worked with who used to be a sales rep warned me about the magic roundabout. Everyone just treated it a one big roundabout..lol

Pool was a serious business back in the day. Almost every pub had table and a team in the league.

Woe betide anyone who put their 10p in out of order.

I recall that night vividly. I was playing at Luton & stayed over that night at the Days Inn. Not sure how far Luton is from Buncefield (10, 15 miles maybe?) but the explosion was enough to wake me up.  A bunch of us convened in the days Inn Lounge the next morning as the new story was gathering momentum. The M1 was closed for several days too, as a precaution. (The depot was just a few hundred yards west of the motorway).

Talking of Luton, I chanced across the Twitter feed of Raj the other day. If I read it correctly, she's not with Grosvenor any more, she's with Party. I think Dina did the same.

Two lovely, lovely girls.

I was staying at the Travel Lodge next to the M1 and can remember the explosion.

On the evening of Sunday 10 May 1801 post boy John Stevens, travelling from Tring to Hemel Hempstead, was entrusted with several mail bags of post.[2] Upon reaching an isolated part of Boxmoor, near Bourne End, he was threatened by a highwayman who stole from him six leather bags containing bank notes, promissory notes and letters. The highwayman took the money, of a value of £80, and discarded the unwanted letters and bags, leaving them strewn across the moor. It was revealed in the London Chronicle of 11 March 1802, that the highwayman had also discarded his saddle with a broken girth strap on the moor, a mistake that would subsequently lead to the identification of the culprit.

Fact.

David Walliams' Christmas programme Mr Stink was filmed in Hemel Hempstead.

Netflix series: Challenger, the final flight.

It's a good watch if you like that sort of thing.

How's that for a roundabout?

I worked in Hemel for about 8 years and one place of work was adjacent to the magic roundabout. I liked it eventually thought it easy to use apart from the initial first few go’s around it which were interesting 😂.
Also worked at the buncefield oil depot for a year or two but  thankfully not at the time of the terrible explosion.
