I don't know what level means either, in the context its started to be used on here anyway. Its used by americans alot and you see it in the US forums all the time. I guess the guys using it on here have picked it up from there becuse its not an English word for sure.

Its funny what a bunch of sheep people are at times. Another word that started appearing in the US forums about 6 months ago or so is 'bink' or 'I got binked', its started appearing on here the odd time recently and I reckon it could be the standard word used soon for an outdraw, particularly by the online players.

just wanted to quote you saying that "level" isn't an English word Wink

Its not in the context its being used. American english maybe, but not our English.

I don't think the current use of the word "level" is too far removed from English as we know it.

If one were to say "I'll level with you" or "is this on the level?", that I'm sure is perfectly acceptable English.

So it's not really a quantum leap from either of the two examples above to "is this a level" imho.

Excellent Ralph. 9/10.

Ok, maybe I'm misunderstanding what its meaning is then?

Plus, I have to keep Ralph sweet. He's bringing the kettle.

Whatever it means etc, the reason i posted in the first place was really because I just don't like American language/phrases creeping into our own, I seem to hear more and more of it all the time and I hate it TBH. One that really bugged me last week was, I was watching some sport on telly (can't even remember what TBH), and somebody made a good play and the English commentator said 'Wow, that was a clutch move' meaning that was a really key play. I can't tell you how much that made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck and I lived in the US for a year a few years back LOL!

Ha Ha, I worked as a chef when I was there and another phrase that was WTF was '86'. I thought it was just a code they used in the restaurant for when they had run out of something etc. But its a standard phrase they used anywhere and eveywhere meaning they didn't have something.

A hand from the £75 freeze at DTD last night.

17 players left, blinds 600/1200, ante 100. Avarage 18k, me 21k.

Seat 3 pushes for about 9k, I am in seat 4 with KK in the hole. Before I can act, seat 5 pushes for 22k.

I now have all options open to me, I elect to smooth call so that seat 5's bet stands. Everyone else gets out of the way and I obv call when the action returns.

Seat 5 has AK and spikes an A.

I had the option of pushing first (Which would allow seat 5 to withdraw his bet and I play seat 3 heads up for 12k). I don't think that's the correct play, but would like opinions.

Tough situation but I'm sure that I would have done exactly the same a you did.

PS Kettle, tea and coffee sorted Wink

How you played it would have made no difference.

Anyone who having raised out of turn is then prepared to reraise a smooth caller for 9000 ( over 40% of your stack ) who knows it is likely they are going to have to commit the remainder if/when he now reraises is not considering the strength of your hand in this situation , therefore it is highly unlikely he would have folded AK even if you had raised all in before him.

the call has to be the correct play.

by shoving you give seat 5 the chance to pass a lot of hands which you have crushed but which he wanted to isolate with when what you want is all his chips in the middle.

by calling you open his AI range to include all these hands that you have crushed and do not give him the option to pass.

Exactly.  It worked out perfectly, until the ace hit.  Just very unlucky.

My dads grinding bike project is coming along nicely. A suitable bike has been located by my bro Tracy and will be collected at Stow fair.

Still need a big (16" ish) pram wheel though.

Some more grinding bike pics.

Quick Quiz.

Where is this?

Bonus question, WTF is the ground doing halfway up the window?

Now why is half of it below ground?

Is it Luton?

Correct.

Now why is half of it below ground?

Because Luton has got too fat and is sinking.
