Vagueness and the Aftermath - A sporadic diary

Hi Tom,

Me and the missus went to look at some German Shepherd puppies today.  They are about 10 miles from where we live and are 2 weeks old, we wouldn't pick them up to 6-8 weeks obviously but I wanted to look at the home environment and see the parents.  Michelle was really excited as we have planned this for a while but I had to be the bad guy telling her to calm down until we'd had a look!  My main objective was to check the parents temperament and make sure they were healthy pups, whereas Michelle wanted to make sure they were cute and cuddly...sigh.

When we arrived we were welcomed by some rather intimidating barks from two large dogs, I was pleased to see through the window the seller approach the dogs and move them into the living room closing the door behind her, pleased because the dogs didn't protest or act up at all, just followed the owners comands.  When I'd first spoke to the seller she told me Khan (the male) didn't like late night visitors and would normally be quiet protective of the home, this is fine however I wanted to see the male to check his aggression.

In the kitchen were the 7 pups, 5 females 2 males.  They only just opened there eyes (last few days) and all seemed in good health, I had a chat with the seller trying to sound like I was a dog man and knew everything there is to know!  She saw right through it and gave me some pointers on getting my first dog.  After looking at the puppies with Michelle getting more and more excited I asked to look at the parents.  In came Khan and Jess, after a sniff or two Khan was happy whilst Jess went off to protect her pups.  I was very impressed by the adult dogs, they were clearly well trained and friendly, they didn't have any problems with the back legs something I've seen a few examples of on the internet and I was pleased with what I'd seen.

After talking to the owner and agreeing a price we decided to purchase our first dog!!  We picked one of the remaining 2 females (suited us as the females are slightly smaller) and are planning on picking her up around the 16th of Jan, depending on her development.  We haven't yet decided on a name, although Michelle wants to call her biscuit!

Seriously though Dad, I dont know whats brought all this on but its slightly worrying.

So pull yourself together man, and tell us something, anything, it dosent realy matter what it is, its the way you see it that makes it special

put the spanners (and the microscope) away now and get on with what your good at xx

This has all gone OTT.

I was just saying that I felt I was becoming a bit pretentious and full of myself, a bit 'false' like. I wasn't fed up or depressed or anything, but it seems to have come across like I was "Down"

Now it's all become a bit embarrassing, loads of people are coming up to me and saying things like "There there" and "It will all be OK" etc.

Well I have to say I'm very touched, but I won't be jumping off a building or putting my head in the gas oven any time soon, so can we please draw a veil over this whole episode and move on.


If you really want to give me some sympathy, listen to this hand I played in a DTD cash game last night.

I limped with pocket 22 saying "I've never won a pot with this hand in my life" everyone else limps as well.

The flop comes 2 6 6 with two hearts, I decide to lead out and I make it £12 to go, two players call.

The turn is an offsuit King, I bet £25 and a player behind me makes it £50 more, the player behind him flats. At this point, both the other players have about £200 each back, I cover them and I move all in.

Player one agonises for about 10 minutes saying "I can't pass this, I really can't" Eventually he calls and so does the other player. Player one shows Q 6 and player two shows 10 6.

The river is a Q.

Some wag pipes up with "So you've still never won a pot with that hand then?"

I'm so glad you're sorted Sov, I bet you're really excited. I hope you will keep us updated on her progress over the next year or so.
