As the players took their seats, I managed to dash outside for a few picturesque landscape pics that would put some of the world's greatest photographers to shame. Well, okay, just Jen and Dana.

Gold star for anyone who can name the long haired lover from Germany in the bottom photograph.

Too easy. Marcel Baran.

While Jen and Snoops have been watching the poker, photographing hats etc, fools that they are, I have been out on the balcony. It's just lovely out there, like so:

While I was sunning myself taking photos for your edification, Mr Maz Nawab wandered outside. He was shaking his head and was clearly in serious need of nicotine - "I was up to 19 or 20k. I don't really know why I got involved with this German kid." Must admit I feared the worst for a moment, but it turns out he's currently on a Just Fine 16 or 17k. Apparently the hand in question involved Maz holding a pair of Nines and Kid German holding Jacks, although Maz was fairly sure he had A-K or similar. That hand saw him drop down to around 12k, but he's been doing a pretty good job of clawing it back since.

HATS OF THE DAY!

Dana has very graciously allowed me to be the judge of today's headwear competition.  I was promised no fewer than FOUR cowboy hats, two with Western-style extras of dress.  I found only two, but one is the amiable ticketless gent from earlier in the tourney.  He's runner up, by the way.

In third place:

Runner up:

But the winner - eschewing the wild west for the crazy lemon look:

What kind of hat do y'all reckon Vicky Coren is wearing today?  Clearly not a cowboy hat or she'd have made the final cut of hat of the day, but what, then??

I was taking a photo of Thomas Dunwoodie, but BA Kildalen was taking a photo of me!

He showed me it afterwards, I looked really creepy.

Like a machine gun rattling out an flurry of bullets, a swift raise, re-raise, re-re-raise, all-in, call causes a sudden showdown on the far table, one man turning over Kings, the other Aces. A King-less board later and we're a Spaniard down, leaving young American Joe Udine to stack up his newly acquired stack whilst simultaneously thanking the Poker God's for his good fortune.
