Is this the British or American series? I understand Kevin Spacey is doing the American version.

Pretty certain you are the only person who knows there was a British version

I remember the British series.

Just stated watching the US version and 7 eps in it is definitely living up to all the hype.

If you've not been watching True Detective then you need to be watching True Detective.

Almost Twin-Peaksy in its depiction of a murder investigation, but grounded enough to make you question if you're watching the programme you think you are, or whether True Detective is an entirely different genre of series.

Matthew McConaughey is brilliant - has any actor made a comeback like his of late.

Have you saw more than one, Andrew?
I saw ep 1 Saturday night and I was mightily impressed.

British HOC>US version for me but both obviously decent but don't bother with either for now if you haven't watched True Detective.  It is going to be top five ever and it could be challenging for the top spot......

I've only watched the first 5 minutes of Sherlock, but I know that I'm not going to be getting much work done today...

Just started watching True Detective.
Struggling with the accent and the mumbling if I'm honest.

Looks ok otherwise. Maybe my ears will tune into it over time.

McConnaughey does get mumbly, not helped by his accent or the fact he's doing 'Christian Bale as Batman' whispery-growling instead of talking. A few times I've had to spin back to rewatch a line I've missed.

Ironic that as soon as I talk it up on here, episode 6 was a bit meh, which is a worry as there's only 2 left.

Think it just had to be that way for plot purposes.  I wouldnt be too worried tbh.

I've not got True Detective at all and have chopped it off after 2 episodes. It just seems a bit forced to me and I agree about the mumbling, troubled soul. Sorry, guys...

Really enjoying True Detective, watched episode 6 last night, and am already counting down the days til episode 7.

Watched Dallas buyer's club too over the weekend, and MM is fast becoming one of my favourite actors, pretty hard to believe when everything he did prior to the Lincoln Lawyer was complete ball sack.

Agree with the accent/mumbling/police slang comments though, that's the same reason I hated "no country for old men" as I literally couldn't understand a word Tommy Lee Jones was saying.
