Losing is fine, if we think we are playing ok. We can handle it then, as we know it will turn around, soon enough.
It starts to get me down when I know I am not playing ok, and I think that's the thing if you are serious about poker.
You can understand the variance, you can understand why we need multiple buyins etc..., but you cannot rationalise, or laugh off, playing bad.
The worst bit, is the self doubt that creeps in, mid-downswing - can I still beat this game etc....

I'm pretty certain that
most
of the tilt/pain/hurt mostly comes from affordability. If you are well rolled, it does not hurt, if you are not, it does.

I disagree Tikay. I can have 500buyins at a stake and losing 10 in a row still annoys me.
Without wanting to throw figures about too much, I can lose £x in a downswing and it still hurt, even though that £x makes absolutely no difference to my overall bankroll. It's the constant losing that hurts, not the money.

Im quite a bit different tbh. I have a really weird view on this because Iv never been rolled etc.
Literally, I cant remember (at the time), being that annoyed at losing a pot. I get tilted with myself for playing bad, not at others. However, I can lose my spending money for the month of the second day of the month and, at the time, be totally fine with it. I might get in the car and think "you cock Jamie, what did you do that for", but it doesn't really affect me that much.
I agree, I HATE losing. Thats the only bit that touches the sides, but Iv always been like that. I once threw a Chess piece in the fire because my Grandma beat me with it when I was 5. Iv just managed to calm myself down a bit

Prob needs a poll or its own thread, but anyways... Am I the only one who gets really tilted by the use of Grandma?? Do the majority say Grandma/Grandmother? To me its always been Nan or when i was super young i would pop a Nana in there when i needed a rebuy on some sweets. (probs mojos as they were the nuts ainec)

For me it was never the losing it has always been about the way I play. If I lost because I played bad then the journey home has me calling myself all the c****s in the world. But as soon as I'm home it stops and then forgotten about until I play again and hopefully learn from any mistakes.
If a downswing was down to variance then I just look back at the last 10 years and see that each year I've been in profit and that usually stops me hating the game.
What also helps is that poker is just a hobby for me and not my main source of income. Not sure I'd handle it the same if it was.
