stato is one of my closest mates and he runs like a lord against me and is probably up lifetime vs me some ungodly amount, this has never affected our friendship at all.
If anything it has brought us together x Standard strategy of befriending your biggest fish surely?

The worry at the moment is that the fish pool has dried up significantly and the games just don't start, or they are full of solid players. Midweek it's honestly not worth coming in sometimes, and I'm starting to think about other options, playing online more etc.
This is going to constantly happen and I would wonder whether Nottingham is a big enough place to overcome it in the long run. It seems there are at least eight or nine people at DTD that are playing full time. Even at £30k a year each that is over £250k a year that has to be lost. I am not sure how sustainable that is. When I am in Florida I play in a Hard Rock casino that is kinda like a Vegas casino and from about 11am everyday there are 30+ tables running and a constant stream of tourists boosting the numbers and there are probably only 7 or 8 pros making a proper living there in the cash games and outside Vegas it probably has the perfect demographic.

Good post Redarmi.
South Florida has a lot of people with money to burn I would imagine, in fact as an area it must be very high on the list regarding that worldwide.

Don't they have some stupid rules at the hard rock regarding the BI? I was going to head there once and remember reading on 2+2 that you could only BI for a relatively small number of BB's, I forget what exactly, It might have been 50 or even as low as 20.

Great thing about South Florida is all the snowbirds that retire down there and have literally nothing else to do. When I am there I often play for 5-6 hours after I drop my wife off at work and of the regulars I am the youngest by about 40 years although on the downside you do get a lot of people buying in short but you don't have to be very good to win at the games there at all. I'm certainly not and I could make a passable living especially with the high hand promos and other things designed to get the punters in.
Woodsey - they got rid of all of that last July. No restrictions now. It used to be $100 which was pretty funny given they spread $5-10....for the first few hands of every day the regs in that game used to just all go all in blind to build their stacks so they could play properly.....ridic situation.

The problem is that NL Hold'em games can't sustain themselves because the fish lose their money too quickly. That's why Limit Holdem was invented, and is why tournaments are popular. Although it must feel like cash game NL has lots of luck in it, it doesn't have as much luck as other poker games.

I have been in cardrooms in the US (California in particular) this year, where the majority of the games are still limit. Deffo went in one where there must have been over 20 limit games running and only 5 or so no limit.

Do you think the increased buy-in for the 0.5/1 game has had an effect on the 1/2 game? I would imagine moderately fishy regs from the 1/2 who felt the 0.5/1 was too small when you could buy-in for £100 (and not straddle) have now moved back down now they can play deeper.
