And you should not back horses, unless it's a decent meeting/race, I.E - cheltenham, Epsom, Royal Ascot, as so many races are corrupted these days, and usually there never tips, merely other punters 'fancies' looooooooooooooooooool GG

Fett called my 4 bet shove, but to be fair, k3 is normally way ahead of my range there. He just got unlucky.

vis a vis the table full of regs...
If we assume that you're all equally as good as each other, that your knowledge of each other's game is perfect and that variance will, longterm, even itself out then surely all you're doing is paying rake in the hope that someone will sit with you and donate?

but if you are playing with good players, theoretically you should be learning off them and improving your game

Yea but that's not a good assumption.

Which bit? I know everyone thinks they have an edge, but surely the more the same group play against each other the thinner any edge becomes?

Well fish usually join games and son't usually start them. Regs should do all they can to start games playing a few orbits with open seats. Im personally not a fan of playing with people i know well, but if their creating games and fish are joining then its all good.

This is always the situation at my local. I know that I'm a dog in a lineup full of the good regs, but if it means we bring 3 or 4 fish to the game, it's definitely worth it. Most of the time it's pretty easy to keep it on the felt when things go wrong between two friends. Especially amongst the Highroller Field Horde, you can't tell a history without getting berated, which a) helps to keep moaning to a minimum and b) makes it sting a little less when those pots happen.
To segue back to the original topic, traveling with friends once in a while seems fine and gives you a few stories to tell etc. Obviously making a habit of it seems pointless, when you can play a 5 friends/4 fish game locally then there's no need to travel 40 minutes down the M1 to do the same thing. If you're all professionals, it shouldn't cause friction - it should just be part and parcel. I mean, we're all playing the same game. Well, almost.

Just to echo what's been said.
-Fish don't start games, regs do.
- IMO even with 6 regs and one whale, most if not all of the regs would be plus EV.
- there's a couple of ppl I feel have a big edge over me in those games, the other regs I can hold my own against.
- if u wanna start decent games at DTD you just
have
to play vs the regs.
- wrt the friendship thing, for the moment all is good. We win and lose big pots to each other all the time, the bigger the pot, the longer it takes before you can have a laugh about it, but usually once all is said and done on the felt, not much bothers us and we needle each other constantly.
- it's all professional, we can play a 2k pot together, then go out for a meal the next night and nothings changed.
- I can't see this changing, I mean, Dubai mentioned it all being great when we're winning but sooner or later etc etc, i don't have an ego about game selecting or dropping down if I took a bad hit. It would never affect my friendship with one of them and I'd have no problem swerving those games if they became too big for me. In fact, I often do give them a miss cos I think theres more value in other games sometimes. stato is one of my closest mates and he runs like a lord against me and is probably up lifetime vs me some ungodly amount, this has never affected our friendship at all.
The worry at the moment is that the fish pool has dried up significantly and the games just don't start, or they are full of solid players. Midweek it's honestly not worth coming in sometimes, and I'm starting to think about other options, playing online more etc.
Lost another 600 last night in a barely profitable 1/2 game. Flush under flush and got outdrawn in some decent pots. downswing officially started. I guess it's been coming.

very much this, remember ofc its not always going to be possible to play in a sick sick game with several people gving it away, sometimes the game is just going to be tougher
