Tom - James Hartigan, with whom I work, & who does the EPT Commentary, has found a clever workaround, which allows him to play poker on his i-Pad. He's very helpful, drop him a PM. Don't tell him you know me, though......

The clock can be called after a 'reasonable amount of time'. How long had gone before he called the clock?
I also think it's wrong for a player who isn't in the hand to call the clock in a cash game. Doesn't this Mike leave his seat unattended for ages, then comes back and plays a few hands and then buggers off again?
I wouldnt say he does this much, but he is a massive douche. He's always been pretty nice to me, but i've seen him be ridic rude to a lot of the regs at Dusk, not least a few deepstacks ago where he wrongly took a seat which Deadman had asked to be locked up, by going to the floor staff and kicking up a massive fuss. He's been close to being kicked out a couple of times over his attitude and been spoken too by the Mr.Trumper
I dont really like the way he talks to the fishies either. I feel like regular players have a responsibility not to be hostile and keep games in the spirit where we would all feel happy to sit, doesn't help with people like mike calling clocks on people... something I have never done and wouldnt feel comfortable doing (unless extreme

I've called the clock on ppl in comps a few times. I think it's fair game if yr short and the situation merits it.

comps are so different from cash games though.
other than that situation where people just tilt me a lot (seems to happen more in tournaments though) where I raise, you 3bet, someone tanks for about a week and calls, I 4bet/shove and you pass insta because you have 3 high as usual, then the guy who cold calls goes into the tank again. tilts me a lot that.

You can download the splashtop app to remote control your pc. A friend of mine 8 tables with a HUD using that app on his iPad

I have never called a clock in my life, but defo agree there are spots where it's fine to do so, in fact id say a very high% of clocks I've seen being called have been in pretty reasonable circumstances

I've only called the clock a couple of times, and I feel pretty bad about it, but if you tank for 10 minutes over sticking your last 2000 chips into a pot of 20,000 when you are obviously committed in a comp with 20 minute levels, you've got it coming.
Incidentally, I don't agree with previous comments- if you've got a really short stack, it's surely in your interest to not play any hands and try and creep into the money. If you've got a guy who takes 5 minutes over every decision on your table though it totally tanks the chance of anyone on that table winning the comp- to win a comp you need to win pots, and to win pots, you need to play some hands!
Different in cash, obviously.

That doesn't make unnecessary tanking ok and if you flip it to the times you have a decent stack and a better chance to win the tournament, you are being really impeded.
Also, creeping into the cash isn't what tournament poker is about.

Mike used to be a regular at the Empire in London. I worked nearby at the time and would often pop in for an hour at lunch time or a couple of hours early evening after work.
Whenever I saw Mike there he would always have a big stack. Its a 24/7 venue and he'd often have played through the night and for up to 24 hours at a stretch, so I always assumed the big stack was a result of big wins, especially as The Empire has max buy -in limits rather than uncapped. I never saw him lose. I lost a big pot to him once with QQ v JJ on a J high board.
I understood that Mike travelled over from the US for a week at a time specifically to play at the Empire and he'd win more than enough in a week to cover his air fare and hotel to make the trip profitable. I'd say he was there about one week a month. I believe he stayed in a cheapish hotel 40 minutes outside of London to keep the cost down. He wasn't well liked at The Empire and had a reputation for being rude to waiting staff and never tipped. He had a rock like image and also seemed quite petty at times. For example, he'd often leave the table as his big blind was approaching and return shortly after. There were no penalties for this and he did it quite often. When the casino outside was running a promotion (e.g. a free £1 spin on wheel of fortune), Mike would be the one to leave the poker table for his free £1, even though he might have £2-3k in front of him at the time.
I wasn't there when it happened but I understand Mike was eventually banned from The Empire after a dispute led to a ruling he didn't agree with. I've not seen him at The Empire since and it sounds as though he's transferred to DTD.
