Being a good little grinder today. I've foregone plenty of more "fun" games / options in favour of some right little value hunting.
I had a tip off (many thanks Gascoigne Jr) that the Western club in London were holding a ridiculous tournament with a buyin of £333guarantee of £250k to which they had no hope in hell of getting close. The had 7 day 1s, the first 5 of which had a combined 37 runners making day two! I'm playing the 6th day one, and if they sell out tomorrow, the overlay will be about £55k. I wonder whether they'll actually stump it up...
Anyway, I drove here alone and £999 later I'm sitting just above starting stack for the first time in 3 attempts. The play is pretty interesting. I've been left speechless a few times. Takes a lot to surprise me as well.
Pleased I came though, it was the right financial decision, and in the car on the way here I was flicking through the radio and classic fm were blaring out something that immediately I loved. I've heard of this piece many times but never heard it.
This is the "Dies Irae" (which means Day of Wrath in Latin) from Verdi's requiem.
It's fucking epic! Would make a sick soundtrack to a BBC Olympics montage or something like that!
Edit: link may be incorrect. Can't do it on my phone. Tal?
Re-edit: nope, it's correct- played the opening in front of my table accidentally on full volume.
