London progress report

Pending a few checks, we've got an apartment sorted to move in March 31st. It's been a horrible process sorting it all out, and in the end I went 20% over my budget because I was so tilted with the whole process and I knew this place would be a pleasure to live in and I'd actually feel like a success in it - I thought that was quite important.

I was going to be paying an arm and a leg anyway for pathetic one bedroom places, so I thought I'd pay an arm and a leg and another arm to get a sick one bedroom place - so at least I'd feel happy about being limbless.

I'll post photos when it's 100% confirmed.

Victoria has got a job dealing at the empire yay! Everyone says that's the best place in London for dealers - best tips, location etc. So she's very happy to be back in full time employment again.

I've been playing lots of live cash here in London without much success, fortunately having pretty small swings for the stakes I'm playing but alas, going generally in the wrong direction. Feeling good about the future here though.

Until sunday had a decent record online of played one, won one for the month, so I guess it's still been an OK month. Sunday wasn't disastrous either, only lost v small.

Off to Malta tomorrow yay! Happy to be off somewhere sunny and to have that buzz again of playing huge tournaments. It's a new country too, with lots of new flag potential! We've got Keith with us on a trip for the first time since August last year, Mitch, Stato and Deadman too so the usual reprobates. Tons of other brits going too, should be sick. Updates here of course...

I flew over with Mitch, Keith and Stato. Well, not entirely correct, Stato missed his flight due to "extreme fog on the motorway" but arrived on the next one...

Deadman is arriving tomorrow but he'll be busy with the big boys (metaphorically, not physically of course) repping the UK in some Global Poker Masters and will have to miss a lot of events.

So the usual gang, plus a huge brit presence as you mentioned. Every man and his dog has come for this one and it should be great.

It's started badly for me, I came about 22nd with 13 paid in last nights turbo. I had a really satisfying moment vs Ivan Luca which I'll write about. He's the argentine that wrecked me in the 10k in deauville, doing three huge overbets vs me in a short space of time. I had such weak hands and folded each time, but kinda knew each time he was full of shit. However with so many people investing in me, I really didn't wanna explain to people how I called off my stack with second pair vs a 4x pot river shove. I know that's silly but it played on my mind a lot.

Last night I played a hand almost identical to one we played in January. I raise A6, he defends bb, AKK check check, T check check, 2 river, he jams for 3x pot. Almost an exact replica in fact. I called this time, and beat J7. In a way that was satisfying to finally get a decision right vs him and win a big pot - but also it just confirmed that I was probably good in the 10k when I folded, and also made me think that maybe I was too scared money to make the call then.

Anyway, it was no use anyway, as we busted just short of the money.

The IPT main was a real bore today. Played 7 levels bust just after dinner, peaking at 28k from 25k starting, having 18-22 for the vast majority of it. The table wasn't soft, or talkative, so I was kinda bored all day with no hands really. I was also having terrible stomach pains all day, really excruciating pain for about 8 seconds every 5 minutes, thankfully that seems to have subsided now.

And back home my poor Grandfather is extremely ill and has not long left apparently. So that's on my mind a lot.

Will play the turbos, flipouts and cash tomorrow, the big 2k is on the day after.
