Really excited about this gym stuff. First real session tomorrow, and some realistic targets to follow shortly. Will definitely be using this diary as a platform to catalogue my progress, so that I keep it up to avoid the sheer embarrassment of underachieving.

On top of that, I had a fantastic session at the tables last night. I sat down to a table full of Chinese gamblers just giving it away. I won £100~ early on with KK vs QJ on Q 4 2 6 9, and shortly after that the weirdest thing happened. UTG+1 opened to £4 and picked up five callers. I found on the button, and where calling is of course a viable option, I felt like a squeeze would get through often enough, and the original raiser had about £60 or so and I was happy to flip if he got it in. After making it £25, a couple of the regs commented "snap fold, Sean's raising, he must have a monster." Am I finally being recognised as the nit that I am?

As the night went on, the spewtards got stacked, and some of the better regs sat down; so after I'd taken £200 off the gamblers, I had a chance to actually use my brain. I had Tim and Tony to my right, Monty and Chris Tsang to my left. It was a really fun dynamic, and we even got some prop bets going. Really fun night, plans for the near future, and in unusually high spirits. I am hardly the dejected degenerate I claim to be. Someone please knock me down a peg.

August crush thus far: £810.50 (£16.28/hr)

What gym are you using?

I keep saying I will do something similar or just general lose weight stuff but havn't quite managed to get the willpower together to do it ywt... Perhaps following your exploits will give me some impetus to get it sorted Smiley

Was fun playing when I eventually got to sit down in position on you lol Just wish it had happened several hours sooner lol

It was hard for me to find the willpower to get up and go down there and actually get things rolling, but already feeling pretty happy about things. With each day I was just getting a little more obese, until half of my wardrobe no longer fit me. Financially: getting a gym membership > replacing all my t-shirts. I'm using the gym at the Village Hotel in Chilwell.

I've never before felt so sick at losing £60 for the night. I appreciate that this is 6BB for a lot of the Blonde regs, but given that I was winning £260 within an hour, and that I ran at EV all night just makes the loss a tilty one. I suppose I'll take solace in the fact that I made the thinnest value bet of my career today.

Where are you playing?  DTD or Gala?
And how big is your life roll and poker roll currently if you do mind me asking?

Playing at Gala for the time being, though not through choice. Soft as the games are, the location/tables/cards/chips/dealers/rulings/constant threat of being stabbed is fairly tilty. I don't normally talk about my roll, but I guess there's probably no harm in revealing approximate figures. Life roll is £2k~, as I'm very lucky to have minimal expenses and I don't really want for much. Bankroll is £9k~ at the moment, definitely ample 50p/£1 roll and I don't mind taking some £1/2 shots. I have $1400~ still on Full Tilt as well, and some emergency funds stashed away from the time I did £6k on roulette and decided I wasn't fit to be handling my own money. Can't touch that for another two years. Hope this isn't too much information.

Bankroll for poker sounds very sensible for the .50/1 with shots at 1/2.  How much you going to be taking from your poker winnings and moving it into your life-roll each month/quarter?  £2K doesn't sound like an amount you can really live off, even with minimal expenses.

I've already gone broke twice. It's a big chunk I left out when I started my diary, because I found I liked writing trip reports too much. Wink

I started this year January with £320 to my name, and Alex was nice enough to lend me £200 to play in a game at Gala. I still technically had a job at this point, but I was getting one shift a week at best. Alex and I ended up absolutely crushing this game, winning about £900 each. I'll never forget this session, not least because it set everything I have right now in motion, but also because I flopped the nuts three hands in a row. I've never felt like such a luckbox before or since, and this is no mean feat as I generally consider myself reasonably unlucky in life.

The first time I went "broke" was the time I did about half of my net worth on roulette one night after some personal issues sent me over the edge. I dumped the rest in a bank where I wouldn't be able to touch it until I was older and - in theory - more responsible. The second time was when I took a couple too many shots at high stakes heads up sit&go's, taking a leisurely five-figure PLO swing, ending with me being stone cold broke again. I feel like I've grown up a lot since then, even though it was only last year. I've made some big changes to my life and I'm reasonably level-headed these days (if not a little docile at times.)

Don't worry though, Rich, I won't take backwards steps and aspire to be who you used to be. Tongue

My intention was to maintain a £10k~ poker bankroll whilst building my life roll for a while, just to ensure that I can account for any surprises etc.

Good stuff Sean. I really hope we don't see any more visits from old Sean, new Sean seems destined for success.

I hope you get as much out of this diary as I have out of mine. There's a great community of people here with a wide variety of experiences and a wealth of knowledge. You can't put a price on the help I've been given by these guys.

Also having to face the music when you've been a bad boy is something of a deterrent I've found...
