Happens a lot with having kids. They do something that frightens the life out of you, then you shout "I'll kill you if you do that again" Smiley

Not playing = not losing.

Theoretical maths was always my strong point.

In a few days' time, I'm going to embark on a very small project to challenge/showcase my photoshop "skills".

I felt like an advent calendar was a complete waste of time and money, whereas completing a short photoshop piece per day was only a complete waste of time. If you're at all interested, the link to my mini-site on a free host will be up soon, probably tomorrow. Comments/critique welcome/appreciated.

I guess this will do. I myself, and W3 have been through it with a fine toothcomb, but I'm positive kinboshi will find a glaring syntax error in like 30 seconds. Here it is then, for the one or two readers of this diary: Project 25.

Possible. Have taken the week off from poker because we're not getting along at the moment. If I can sell some, then I'll take a shot, but I don't envisage filling anyone with enough confidence to take a piece right now. Roll Eyes

It looks  deliberate right Sean? I'm following but not exactly sure what I'm following.

Like the site a lot mate. The faily typo is very unlike you...?!

I know I've said this before but I don't think it's a good idea to take so much time off from poker. I mean, at 50/1 even earning £10 an hour, (which is a fair amount more than I think it's possible to earn at those games) if you're only doing 60 hours a month, that's 7.2k/year which isn't sustainable. Even doing 100 hours at a more likely winrate of £7/hour isn't enough. You need to get the volume in mate. Despite being on a downswing that is 3.5x larger than my previous largest downswing, I've still done 150 hours this month. You can't just stop playing when you're losing. It won't go away the next time you play. Deal with it mentally, and battle through it, that's my advice Smiley

The working hours issue is an interesting one (to me).

In a 'normal' job, you are compelled to work at certain times, for, usually, a minimum number of hours.
Even if you are a fairly motivated person, a chunk of those hours are carried out at a less than maximum performance level.

Playing poker, we can more easily relate results to performance levels.... therefore we can cut out the hours where we don't feel at a good level.
Problem is, that can leave less hours than makes an adequate working week - and unless we are playing at fairly high stakes, it is then difficult to make 'enough' money.
(Pretty much what Alex is alluding to).

I think it's probably an easier equation to solve if you've been in a 'normal' job previously..... particularly one where some level of self motivation is required.
Also think it's easier playing mostly online, as opposed to mostly live.
More flexibility in terms of working hours, session lengths etc....

I'm pretty tired, so I'll save the trip report until tomorrow, but to summarise: Finished the month on a winning session, got me out of it for November at the last.

Cut a few sessions short this month due to some sick pots and feelings of utter dejection. Had a real swingy month and it really took it out of me. I realise this game will have a lot more of that in store, and I'm not ashamed to say that - even though I know it's part of the game - I really wasn't prepared for it emotionally. Feel like I was starting to get used to it, though. To stone within I will turn.

Clocked up 91 hours for the month, and a win rate of £1.12/hr lol. Peaked at around £900 and troughed at -£180 three times. Had two of my biggest winning sessions and three of my biggest losses. It's been an absolute rollercoaster, but then I like rollercoasters. December is where it's at anyways.
