Have to admit I don't really want captains going to each other to complain over decisions. I know Bell made a mistake but it was an innocent mistake. He wasn't chasing a run so it's probably even more innocent than a non-striking batsman following up too much. It's not how I want to see wickets taken. It's definitely not just when it suits either. When Collingwood said he didn't want to withdraw the appeal of the NZ batsman runout because of Sidebottom I felt the same way.

I almost never ever bet odds on but 1.01 England for this test match on Betfair now is quite literally free money.

Assuming both are fit, Bres vs Tremlett is a bugger of a selection to make. Don't get injured or else you ain't getting back in, probably!
With Finn, Onions and Dernbach behind this is fantastic strength in depth
Carry this on to retain the Ashes next time and we're into 1980s WI and 1990s Australia territory, sides that define an era.

Thoughts ?? http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/tomfordyce/2011/08/2005_vs_2011_composite_england.htmlInteresting that Tremlett makes this team but it's not a certainty he even gets back in the current one. I'd have Strauss at 1 instead of Trescothick and Broad ahead of Tremlett at 10. Imo this current England team is a lot better than the '05 team, as far as squads go I don't even think it's debatable.

2 pretty special teams and I'd find it hard to decide on any position. Think the 05 team beat a really good Australia but maybe world cricket isn't on the level it was back then so that might give them the edge.

you have to feel sorry for any up and coming players who want to break into the england team, it's gonna be a long wait

It is - they'll probably stay in South Africa now.

Nasser was saying the other day he thought this might be the best England team ever. That could well be a possibility, would be great to be the world beaters for a few years at least
