Starting weight 14st  13 3/4lb

Current weight 12st  12 3/4lb

Total loss  2st   1lb

                  2 stone baby

Excellent work.  What time period was that over, and what did you do to achieve it (mostly focusing on your diet, exercise, or a combination of both?).

Thanks Dan

Started on the 2nd Jan first day back at work after the hols and my weigh was on every Wednesday... Another bit of incentive was a colleague at work also wanted to shift some pounds and we had a bet to see who could lose the most from 2nd jan to the 24th Feb.. 1lb in weight loss was equal too £2 and in end I'd lost 11lb more than him and he shipped me the £22 not a massive amount but he didn't really give it ago until he saw that it was dropping off me and what with him being a right Nit, I then think he started to starve himself.. Lol

I'd like to say a lot of it was down too fitness but unfortunately I can't, the main thing was/is the diet.
My partner recommended the slimfast diet as she had done it before and was going back on it, also this meant that she could buy all the stuff so I could save a few quid. Also helps if ya both dieting because she does all the cooking so tea time was massive in as it needed to be healthy and tasty.

Normal day
Coffee in morning (sweetener an semi milk)

10ish Fruit and a slimfast choc bar 200cal

Dinner would be the slimfast shake 200cal and some more fruit

Then a good healthy tea like chicken rice or a nice chilli but all made with Quorn which I'd never had before but it's not all that bad really..

2 litre of water a day

And cadburys hot chocolate for pudding or sometimes a muller light with a little bit of banana in.

Very little excercise done I'm afraid to say apart from a few sessions on the cross trainer, but last couple of weeks I've not felt well enough to do any mileage on it at all.

Yeah, I eat a lot of the quorn stuff.  It's not too bad at all if you're looking for something to throw onto your plate in a rush from the freezer/fridge.  Far lower in fat than the 'natural' equivalents, and 100% non-horse.

How tall are you?  You now weigh less than I do, and I think you're a similar height.  If that's the case, you definitely don't want to lose any more!

I forgot to weigh yesterday did so this morning

-7,-4,-3 in three weeks for a stone off

I went to the football last night and through lack of planning didn't have much to eat before I left. Gnawed my way through my fingernails during the match rather than go for the burger/hot dog type concession options

Avoided a very real temptation to stop at every Motorway Service area on the way down and settled for a massive bowl of ceral at midnight

Which was probably the best I could do, in the self-inflicted circumstances

Don't think you need any more pats on the back so a simple 'well done' from me.

I'll hold off the huge congrats until 6 months in because you know yourself that you've got a lot more work to do.

Keep it up mate  thumbs up

Week One Update

Weigh in at 7.30am 07-03-2013

16st 8lbs (3lbs loss)

25% body fat (Same)

49.9% water (4% higher)

The good= Diet been good in the day anyway have drunk AT LEAST 3 litres of water a day without fail and that shows in the water percentage.

The bad= Not done enough walking let alone running had 3 fairly good walks this week target was 5 so a small fail there

The ugly= Monday night had 4 slices of bread leathered in margarine at about 1am

I think before i was getting between 1.5 and 2.5 litres of water a day now i am hitting the 3 litres target a day which is showing already.

Considering i have had a very stressful week doing forms and paperwork into the early hours of a lot of mornings i could have succumbed more than i have.

This week is the crucial week for me i often have a good week followed by not much of one and then have to start again, must say the thought of this thread has helped a lot of times when i have been tempted.

Well done to all been some fantastic results this week

Good start horsey, well done.

Question for you & others - I note you are looking to drink a lot of water daily - 3 litres, & leatherman (2 stone man) said he drunk tons of water, too.

Why is this? How does drinking water help the diet? I almost never drink water, except for very small amounts of fruit flavoured water.

How would drinking water assist me?

I have no idea technically

I was drinking a fair bit anyway so its not hard to juggle it up a little bit

I was a bit concerned to see my water rate (whatever that is ) was a long way short of what it should be for my age.

I think one of the maxims is it makes you feel fuller and can satisfy cravings for snacks e.t.c

It's very easy to drink too little water, and the body doesn't work well when it's dehydrated.  However, the body recovers well and generally very quickly from mild-dehydration.

The cells of the body need water to carry out their roles.  Water acts as solvent, carries electrolytes, and basically any function of your body needs water.  Digestion is more effective if you are hydrated, as is muscle activity, and you need water to help metabolise fuel stored in your body or taken in as food.

You don't need to drink 'water' to be hydrated, and a lot of foods and drinks will provide the water you need.  But it's easy to not take in enough water in your standard diet, and so drinking water is an effective way of getting it on-board.  Also, if you drink a lot of caffeinated or alcoholic drinks their diuretic effect can mean you can become dehydrated as well.

You should definitely be drinking water (or juice, etc.) if you are getting constant headaches (one of the first signs of dehydration, and one that is usually experienced before you have a dry mouth and actually feel thirsty).  If that helps get rid of the headaches you know what the cause was, if not, you know you should probably see a doctor.

One or two is fine, as it contains water and there isn't enough caffeine in them to produce a strong diuretic effect (unless they're HUGE cups Cheesy).

Drinking a lot of coffee or tea can be good though, gets you on your feet to go to the loo a lot Wink
