I am cheating and about to start on the lighter life diet. 4 powdered sachets a day with the ability to constantly grind out 6 pounds a week weight loss when coupled with regular exercise. I have about 4 stone to lose and am impatient and love the fact i won't have to worry about food selection, where i always stumble.

What's the plan in 9 or 10 weeks when you've lost 4st?

Are you going to hate the fact that to maintain what you've achieved you're going to have to start to worry about food selection, where you always stumble?

A part of the payments for the sachets is a support group, and they include advice on how to maintain your ideal weight and not to relapse. Hopefully they will guide me well.

That certainly doesn't sound particularly safe.  You spoken to your doctor about this diet?

Going to tomorrow. It is endorsed by that celebrity doctor that always crops up occasionally, that is good enough for me.

Tried the Cambridge Diet a couple of years ago which is the same, 4 powders a day, lost 1 stone 2 pound in a week, but had major mood swings and headaches, skin broke out in spots, breath could peel wallpaper of the walls, bad trots after a few days, such an unhealthy diet for a large Male, couldn't last on it for more than two weeks and the weight rebounded back on within a couple of months.
Feels strange when you can actually feel your body in ketosis and was beginning to feel a little better by the end of the second week but it was still affecting my mood swings which wasn't helping my poker, def prefer a healthier diet and exercise routine, but good luck to you if you try it.

Didn't weigh myself at home yesterday as busy all day but had lost a pound at my Slimming World weigh in on Friday so no big change this week, had been lazy last week though and only exercised the one day so need to improve on that this week.

Oh, the laughable Dr Hilary Jones!

He also endorses the Burzynski Clinic on telly.

I'd be very interested to hear what your doctor says about this diet, as from some quick research I've seen that a lot of GPs refuse to sign the LighterLife form.

Ok I weighed in at 14st 10.6lbs today which is a loss of 2.8 lbs this week and a total of 13.6 lbs overall.

This is going to be my toughest week yet so will be delighted if I can get through the 1 stone barrior with tight control on food intake as I won't be able to make the gym at all.

I think this is a decent short term diet for those that might be in jobs that aren't as mentally draining as poker. I have read loads of reports of people unable to concentrate with dizzy spells and horror stories of the diet possibly bringing on death. I wouldn't mind going through 2 months of feeling not the best in order to get a head start but for it to affect how I play poker, then it can gtfo.

Going to book an appointment with my personal trainer asap. Have him put me on a diet and exercise regime and go from there. Should definately try that seriously before a strip diet.

Hey guys, seems a like a good thread to post my questions.

I've just joined a gym and plan on going three times per week.  My workouts that the guys there sorted out for me take about an hour to do.  How long approx will it take to stop hurting get used to going?  Also, they have me doing crunches on a gym ball, how long does it take to get used to these too?  I seem to shake when doing them on the ball and can't control it.

Very hard to answer that as it's all dependent on the person I think, some may take a while longer to get into it than others. It might not be safe for you to do that particular exercise if you're shaking whilst doing it though so maybe ask if there is something else which doesn't elicit such a response.

Same thing happened to me, Shaking is likely to do with having weak core strength. As this improves you will become an adonis. Physio tells me my back problem is down to a weak core. Increasing abdominal strength is the best thing all round for stablility and easing pressure off the lower back.

I expect I probably do have a weak core.   The guy showing me the stuff said it would get better, just need to use those muscles.   I think I may do the crunches at home for now, me lying down wobbling on a gym ball isn't the best of sights, I know people there don't give a toss but I still feel funny about it

Lol at becoming an adonis, I think I've left that a bit late Cheesy

Diet 30/01/12

Isopure 2 scoops
3x Pitta
25ml Worcs Sauce
100g Onion
400g Chicken
120g Lamb
MP Cookie

Protein: 235g
Carbs:   139g
Fats:      40g

Cals:    1835

Bit high on the carb side of things but still a decent cut below maintenance so I'm not gonna worry too much, after Simon correctly noting how little Veg/Fruit I eat yesterday I'm going to try and make an effort to eat a little more fruit and veg which shouldn't be hard  Tongue

I've got dad to get me some Asparagus and a stir fry pack from Marks & Spencer which have some Broccoli, Green Beans and Pak Choi in. I'll get some Melon ordered in too from Tesco and one of their fruit salads too. I'm not gonna say that I will eat x/y every day because some days I won't, I'll endeavour to eat more though.

Just weighed myself at 222.8lbs so I managed to get off the weight I put on in Ireland and a little more on top. I tried posting it but couldn't do it as I'm a fish so send it to Milligan again  and hopefully he'll be able to fix me up Cheesy

You should do it at the gym with your instructor as he can see your technique and will be able to give you pointers.
