5K in 25 minutes is a decent time - and quite a jump from your current PB. You got a 5K training plan you'll be following?
Also LOL @ Matt.
Of course I have a training plan I will be following Mr Phillips.
Day 1 Run 5k
Day 2 Try and do it faster
Day 3 Try again
etc
OK, so you don't really then

There are quite a few different training plans for running a PB for the 5K. Most emphasise the idea of focusing on one of the two elements at a time - endurance and speed. Basically, you should look to build up your endurance by running
further than 5K with some runs; and then do things like sets of 400m at a fast pace, followed by several minutes of very slow running (interval training) to improve your speed. Trying to do both at the same time won't help you as much.
You can just run 5K repeatedly, and you will improve your 5K time. But it will take longer, and might be a bit disappointing morale-wise when you stop seeing the improvements as you get closer to the 25-minute target.
One thing in your favour, in terms of massively improving your PB for the 5K, is that you're also going to be losing weight. Dropping weight can make a huge difference to PBs. So although you're looking to knock a good 10 minutes off your 5K PB, it will be a 'different you' running the 5K in 6 months time when you've dropped a fair few pounds. It'll be similar to comparing running with and without a backpack on (of a comparable weight).
Also, remember that rest is important (as this is when the muscles actually get stronger). It's also easier to keep training if you mix up your runs - and do some longer slow runs as well as some faster short runs.
Have you got a target race in mind to do your 5K PB, or are you doing it all on the treadmill?
PS. Your sig is now out of date
