Hey guys, anyone stayed at Circus Circus, Stratosphere or Excalibur before. These are the cheapest hotels available that I've heard of. Going for 2/3 weeks so trying to keep costs down. Would you recommend staying at any of these or is it better to pay a bit more?

I stayed at Circus Circus last year.

For what it's worth I enjoyed it and I am probably going to have a wander around/donate $100 in some way this year as well.

It's not fancy, just to forewarn you. If you want to use it as Base camp and spend most of your time elsewhere then it works fine. Its full of kids and smells like lemon scented bleach, but it does have a weird kitchy 1970s charm about it.

I am easily impressed though. If you're used to something a bit more fancy, you might feel your heart drop to your stomach when you get to your room.

Excaliburs full of screaming kids !
for some reason I've stayed there 2/3 times in the past wouldn't recommend it ,
Stratospheres a bit far out ?
What about ballys ? Mid strip it has a bus to the rio ,the pool areas ok there ,small bar , some food options
I've stayed several times over the years n find it ok
Or the Linq ? Newly refurbished doesn't that have some good deals ? Mid strip too

I would avoid. Harahs, Flamingo, Ballys should be similar price and are nicer with a much better location. I would also avoid Quad (or is it called Link now?), even though it's central.

Thanks for the advice guys. Anyone stayed at Polo Towers before? Coming up around the same price as Harrahs, Luxor, Mote Carlo, it's right across from city centre as well.

Orleans ?  Off strip but a nice coach laid on to ferry you in and out . I enjoyed being away from the hustle and bustle of the strip but was able to get right in it very easily when ever I wanted to.

Virgin Money have a special offer - 12,000 mile signup bonus if you open a new stocks and shares ISA. Minimum investment is either £1000 lump sum or £75/month for 6 months.

Simon  (or others with experience), I'm looking for an August flight using points. Only two economy flights going to Vegas using points on bad dates for me, do you know if more are likely to come up or are they simply booked up?

I can see 3 economy dates, 12th+15th+16th flying out, liberal returns in first 3 weeks.  There are a lot more dates available flying out in Premium.

As there is a 30% discount on buy miles right now, (<11th May) you could buy (16k+4.8k) the extra miles for £255 and fly premium?

In terms of your actual question, it is likely that there will be some extra seats added, however you can't bank on it.  Depending on how flexible you are, that might be not much of a problem, or a major problem.

Airport tax on economy is ~ £200 and about £300 on Premium, so factor that in too, but seems like P.E. is a reasonable solution to me,

I'm looking to open a stocks and shares ISA and also to switch credit cards. I currently use the nationwide select credit card but thats mainly because my main current account is with them, thats about it. I had earned £9.16 in rewards so far this year on £3200 worth of transactions. I'm going to be doing a fair amount of flying towards the end of this year so I want to stock up on miles but not sure how to proceed, I've never looked at any of these air miles schemes before.

Headforpoints.com only seems to deal with the Avios scheme. Is this the best scheme to use?

I spend about £800/month on my credit card, balance cleared at the end of every month so not bothered about the APR, just maximising rewards.

Any advice appreciated Smiley

Trip will be to Australia in November, looking at my prospective dates on skyscanner, Emirates and China Southern seem to be the biggest two
