For those planning to play any of The Venetian's DSE, worth noting that it will be held in the Convention Centre this year. I'm nut exactly sure where that is in relation to their traditional ("Sands"?) area, but I sense it will be quite different to what we normally experience.

Interesting. The Venetian Convention Centre is massive from what I've seen.

I believe they'll be sticking with the conventional antes, whereas Aria and Wynn are planning on moving over to 'BB pays the ante for the whole table'.

Wynn did this for the Spring Classic recently. First event the starting stack was 17,000, no 25 chips in play, first level 100-100, with 100 ante, second level 100-200, with 200 ante, third level 100-300, with 300 ante.

In the third level in particular, where the BB is in for 600, there were a lot more fours, fives and sixes to the flop and it wound up more like a Luton rofflefest. There was definitely more carnage than usual before the first break.

How does it work in Vegas re: buying into tournaments or cash - is it the same as over here that you have to join the casino first or do you just pay your entry fee at the poker desk / sit at the cash table?

Essentially, you just wander in & pay your entry fee, & that's it. There are no entrance barriers or Reception Areas in Vegas Casinos, anyone can walk in & out as they please.

However, most Strip Cardrooms, and The Rio, insist you have a "Players Card", (think "Loyalty Card" sorta thing) which takes a minute or two to sign up to & get. Just take your Passport with you, that's all you need. Players Cards can earn you "credits" etc, but in truth, it's a means to grab your e-Mail address & spam you.

Binions don't require any form of Players Card as far as I can recall, but most rooms, even Golden Nugget, insist on it.
