Benfica v Celtic

I recall there were a couple of Celtic bets in previous CL rounds thread missed

They are 13-2 to win in Portgual, you can get 7/2 the draw

You could get 16/1 Samaras 1st goalscorer I noticed

Any love for Celtic doing something again tonight from Snowball, Teacake and crew?

A draw virtually sends them through (they end home to Spartak, Benfica go to Barca to end the group)

Prices look attractive.

Ouch, painful memories for Fred, yes, we missed a great spot there.

Whether we bet or not, I'd love to see the Celtic lads get a good result tonight.

Benfica are pretty tidy, though, if their Portugese League positions means anything.

No easy games tonight, are there?

I'm still grappling with that Bournemouth bet.

Doncaster to win at Carlisle 9/5

Doncaster won 4 of their last 5 away games. Have a big squad and playing a Carlisle team out of form

Carlisle lost 4 of their last 5 at home only beating Oldham (21st), no clean sheet since 19th Sept and leaked 12 goals in their last 5.

Overall Carlisle are W 2 D 2 and L 5 at home, conceding 22 goals

Doncaster away W 6 D 2 L 1 scoring 14 and conceding only 5

Certainly a team with the likes of James Harper, Sammy Clingan, Iain Hume and David Cotterill with Robbie Blake on the bench who are all established Championship players has every right to be going the right way in this division..

Not claiming personal knowledge of either team, but this was the one game that stood out to me where nearly 2-1 the away team looked very interesting

"Manager Dean Saunders told Rovers Player that he is looking for his side to build on the victory at Portsmouth, with the perfect opportunity to do so in tonight’s game against Carlisle.

“We watched the Portsmouth game again and in the first half they [Portsmouth] never got near our goal apart from when we give them the ball. I thought it was a solid performance, again, away from home we've just got to keep building on it.

“I put the players under pressure every day to get better, I watch every pass, every run and every set play and I’m picking holes in all of it –as long as they’re still trying to improve individually then as a group we will improve.

“The effort at the moment, the way they have stuck together and the spirit they are showing is excellent.

“We’ve only let five goals in away from home, sometimes you feel obliged that you have to take the game to teams, but we can’t go away from doing the things we do well - you have to carry on doing the ‘dirty’ side of the game aswell.

Dean admitted that although he is aware of Carlisle’s struggles at Brunton Park this season, he is more concerned about his team rather than focusing too much on the opposition.

“Carlisle have conceded a lot of goals and lost a lot of games so they haven’t got the best of home records.

“I’m more concerned about getting our house in order and make sure we get better at what we are doing. We’ve got a platform that we work to, but I’d like us to have longer spells of creative football where we can put games to bed before we go into the last fifteen minutes.”"

Funny you mention it I have been debating all morning whether to stick up Samaras as fgs @ 16s, the quesion is does he score first more than once if this game was played 16 times, id say yes.Maybe a fiver Banzai?
On anothet note, the coverage we have been getting down South has been incredible since the Barca games and even Spartak.Usually we get a hard time and few mentions but that seems to have changed, i can't believe Talksport have our game tonight instead of Chelsea tho Chelsea are on Itv.

Note to self, reminders for tonight......

Doncaster result

Bournemouth result

Juve-Chelsea Result

Juve-Chelsea Bookings

Celtic result

Celtic, Samaras FGS.

Nobody has commented on Man Utd tonight, either - best price 14/5. Not an everyday occurence, but it seems that it is because Sir Alex is not too fussed about winning, so maybe the hosts rep value @ 11/10?

Manchester United have left a number of senior players, including Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie, behind for the trip to Galatasary on Tuesday.

Rio Ferdinand, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Patrice Evra and David de Gea also miss the Champions League game.

Nani (hamstring), Shinji Kagawa (knee) and Jonny Evans (groin) are also out.

The squad includes seven players yet to play in Europe: Nick Powell, Larnell Cole, Davide Petrucci, Joshua King, Marnick Vermijl and Ryan Tunnicliffe.

Steve Finn out of the second test.

Ian Bell has become a father but he missed the birth with his wife going into labour on Sunday, before he flew back

Chelsea price looks good, but they simply are not all there at the back and are up against a good team, these 'better' teams that they have played this season have beat them all season long from what I can remember.

The only plus point here is that they are up against an Italian team & we all know how the Italians set up.

I was under the false impression Chelsea were playing Shaktar in their last game. As they are not I like Chelsea a lot less but like the bookings even more.

Finn out is a massive blow for England. His height offers something on flat wickets the others can't.

At the risk of being a Pernickety Peter, are we going to end up betting on India where we know the odds are right? If so, isn't that a bad idea?

No. If the odds are "right", or unattractive, we'll just not bet.

If anything, the value now sits with England.

We made a profit on the 1st Test, we have plenty of good value in-running bets, & whilst I'd like a further interest, we are not forced to bet on the 2nd Test.

I looked at this game earlier.
Was concerned, from possession & chances stats, that Carlisle had underperformed at home, and were a better side than results suggested.
Clearly Doncaster have run well away.

Don't know anything about either team, but am tempted with a bet on Carlisle, if the Donny price shortens later.

On Betfair, the price has moved to 6/5 India and 5/1 at best England (The 6.6 decimal I took yesterday on England has long gone).  If you want 5/1 England, only sportingbet and bwin are offerining it now, I assumed that will go soon looking at betfair.

I definitely wouldn't rush to take the best price evens India through oddschecker.  Betfair suggests that the price looks sure to go bigger with the bookies, and even if it doesn't, you should get laid at 2.18 (decimal) reasonably easily on betfair.

Can't see why Finn out is a massive blow, England look sure to bring in another spinner for the next test, so even if he may have looked a better option, then I don't think there was any certainty he would have come in anyway.

Worse England teams have arrived in India, played on similar pitches and past results don't suggest India win is an odds on chance (see table at the bottom of this website).

http://www.cricketworld4u.com/series/history/india-v-england.php

Happy with my position.

I follow the doncaster team closely, talk to people at the games etc check the stats. Seems to me Donny are playing well in the solid fashion but not going bananas scoring wise. Different side to when i last watched them but performance wise I'm told we are playing well and getting the results. I've had a nibble @ 9/5 but wouldn't recommend myself, just something in the gambling acc with the overs on Chelsea bookings.

Very considerate of Mrs Bell to squeeze it out for Fred's sake.

Given that a draw for Celtic is almost job done, and they were very good at parking the bus against Barca, is 7/2 the draw not a massive bet? What am I missing?

Doobs, I would think Finn is an auto-pick even if Panesar is included. The only way he wouldn't would be if England opted to bolster the batting and drop a bowler as Finn, Monty, Jimmy is a horrible tail.
