Have we kept average stake stats?
Seems like bets have got bit smaller now than when we started
Nitting it up
Not as such, but it should be easy to work out. To prove your point (which I'm sure is correct) I'd need to do it month by month, then work from there. I'll do so over the weekend, or ask MereAuditor so to do. Arguably, his answer may be more reliable than mine.
We are betting smaller. Some of those from the early days, who wanted MAX MAX MAX everytime have departed, that is part of the answer.
As a general rule, we NEVER increase the stake recommended, though we do often reduce it. I reduced the Hamilton bet last night, because, I suspected, it was more a fancy than a seriously ool price or maths-based wager.
Some of our regulars - two, both big winners ROI-wise - get very uncomfortable if we up their stakes. The start of the "Tips by Tighty" thread was evidence of that.
The answer is that if, say, horsey wants to bet a fiver on something, (which he considers appropriate for Fred in this case) anyone else can follow-up with a press. I think he suggested a MAX on the Cards based bet earlier in the wek, but I got Restricted.
I don't mind small, personally, as you infer, I'm an out & out nit, & I enjoy the free fun that Fred gives me.
The nature of the thread is changing, too. We do more long-term stuff, at big prices, now. I like that, too. We invested £250 in Super Bowl, for example.
The little bets keep us ticking over nicely, whilst we await bigger bets incoming. We WILL bet bigger if the right bets come in, & are for bigger sums.
It happens to be fairly quiet right now, but we tick over, & keep our powder dry for the likes of Cheltenham & The Masters. Hopefuly, as I hinted for the Accenture, we can build books for such events.
Happy to take on board advice as to our bet sizing.
Just seems the big priced "banzais" (I am all for having big priced bets btw) haven't been decreased similarly.
So where we were having £60-£100 on ordinary bets, it now seems they are more like £30-£50
But the banzai bets are still a fiver or £10.
They should be more £2 to £5 imo, more in line with the current staking policy.
PS Has any bet which has been described as a "banzai" ever won?

Keith,
Will reply later, or in the morning.
Good stuff, I like to review things from time to time.
Any input welcome.

I think Thechiprince's shirt number 12 on 12/12/12 thingy @ 12/1 was a winning banzai.
It certainly was for me

That wasn't a banzai, that was a great value bet!

We had a 16-1 bet on no try scorer Worcester v Saracens rugby union which won, and e/w 80-1 on McDowell in the US Open golf when he came 2nd. Not sure if I used the word "banzai " in the proposal but do they qualify?

There have been several, but it depends how we qualify "banzai".
We could have mini, midi, maxi etc......
I would hazard a guess that we are not losing money on them, but it would be hard to prove.

was quite obvious to be honest hardly worthy of praise backing a 4-6 shot but ill take it
the fact blue square held the 4-6 was a triffle strange though was quite out of line

You did the same yesterday, but posted it during my nappage hour!
I was quite cross (with myself) for missing that, it looked a lovely bet.
