Marky posted this on the NBA betting thread, very Moneyball-esque style of gambling, pretty fascinating in general on punting rather than just basketball, and ofc he's a fine poker player too - Haralabob, apparently the world's best NBA bettor

Got up early to cheer our cricket bet home.
I either got up too early, or not early enough.
Looks like we start the day in a bit of a hole.
As Tighty says, we'd do it again.
Just one of these things.

We should continue this conversation. I'm playing a £40er at the Broadway and hit a rather sick 2-outer on the turn with 66 on a 55363 board to get a river raise somehow paid off by TT. Villain not impressed.
I think it's Fred's influence. They think I have gamble.
Win it!
Let us know how you get on.
Another day, another...interesting 20bb 3-bet-shove exit hand. Gone 'orribly wrong and I'm now back home.
I should probably stick to slightly -EV sports betting.
26/117 but it wasn't to be.
Run us thru the hand.

In our other curent cricket bet, Pujura most Series runs for India, v Australia, the Aussies innings has just closed at 380.
Pujura time approaches.

India lose their first wicket, 11/1.
Perfect time for Pujura to enter the fray.

After an almost comedic but hugely lucky dismissal of Sehwag, India are 12/2.
The stage is set.
In comes Tendulker, who promptly thrashes his first two balls to the boundary.

Daily Report as @ 0840, Saturday February 23rd
We lost a rather painful £93.69.
This was due to
gambling
. Quite where the notion that we should gamble came from I do not know, what sort of thread do people think this is?
Anyway, our big cricket bet went south big style. I got up early to watch proceedings, to be greeted by a New Zealand total score of 185, so there was not even a sweat. For the record, NZ scored 18 boundaries, England 22, so it made up at 40. We needed 54 minimum. What an anti-climax to start Saturday! Still, better to get in the hole early.
We also had an AnyTime Goalscoer bet (-£5) which missed.
Of the 4 completed bets yesterday, only horsey contributed a blue figure (+£13.33) for the BTS he stuck up.
Never mind, next case, & we have plenty of nice stuff in the books for the weekend.

Accenture World Matchplay
We done some money (£25) on Tiger Woods, but we find ourselves in quite a nice spot this morning, wie have 2 of the 16 players remaining.
We have KAYMER, £10 EW @ 40/1. We need him to win his bracket - so, win 2 games, both today - for the place part to pay out @ 10/1.
He faces Hunter Mahon, a previous winner here, but the bookies have it as a pick 'em.
http://www.oddschecker.com/golf/wgc-accenture-match-play/martin-kaymer-v-hunter-mahan/winner
Outright, KAYMER is now 9/1, so we are in a nice spot at present.

We also have McDowell, £10 EW @ 33/1, again, he needs to win his bracket (2 more rounds) for the place part to kick in.
He faces Shane Lowry, the nerveless young Irish chap who blew away McIllroy in the first round, then demolished Petterson 6 & 5 yesterday.
Even so, McDowell is a decent favourite at around 4/6 to overcome Lowry.
http://www.oddschecker.com/golf/wgc-accenture-match-play/shane-lowry-v-graeme-mcdowell/winner
Outright, McDowell is down to around 12/1.

They play two rounds today, down to 4, so if one or either can get past the first match, we may be in for a fun evening.
Well done - so far - to redarmi & 2xUp for two great bets.

At the risk of stating the obvious, this is a lot of golf even for these chaps, isn't it?
Is stamina/focus a factor in the event?

I'm not an expert, but I would think it is mental stamina rather than physical.
Physically, a golf course is just over 7,000 yards - call it 4 miles, plus add a mile for zig-zagging & green-to-tee, call it 5 miles, so they have a leisurely 10 mile walk in nice countryside at worst, less if the matches don't go the full distance. Adrenelin helps, too.
Same again tomorrow, of course, if they are to win, but a cheque of $1,500,000 (plus enhanced endorsement value) awaits the winner. Enough to ease the pain of two long days.

Gotcha.
Thanking you.

6 Nations
Big day for us in this, too.
For singles, we need France to beat England. Fred has spurned the -8 available (5/6) & gone for the outright, £20 @ 3/1.
We also need a Sin-Bin in the same game, for £10 @ 4/9. We got badly restricted on this bet earlier in the week, but I'll try again this morning to get a bit more on, as they raise my Maximum sometimes once the market has formed properly.
For our Series bets.....
We need Wales to lose, really, away to Italy, so that is a tall order. We have them to be Wooden Spoonerers, but the bet is in bad shape, currently 20/1.
We are also on Ireland to win the 6N, that needs help too, currently 15/2, with England long odds on @ 1/3. France beating England today, then, is make or break. We are not without hope, thoigh, Tighgty's Twitter mate, Will Carling, thinks it will be close. Hope he is right.
Finally, we have a £25 Treble (England, Wales, Ireland all to win) on the weekend's 6N games, but therein lies a problem.

Aussie Rules pre season is under way with the NAB Cup tourney. In each round 3 teams play each other in 1 night over a shorter game time.
In the previous 4 sets of matches the team playing the 2nd match after playing in the first has lost coming in against the fresh team. Today the games are being played in a hot and humid Gold Coast where Brisbane come in fresh against Hawthorn who play Gold Coast first up.
Hawthorn are probably the best team in AFL however Brisbane ate improving, GC is pretty much home for them and both teams are not at full strength.
Stan James are ool here with Brisbane at 2/1, Betfair has them at 6/5. I suggest £25 @ 2/1 Brisbane win.
Need to be quick though as game starts at 9.45am
