The Lions team for this Thursday's game is.....

Team - 15-Leigh Halfpenny (Wales), 14-Sean Maitland (Scotland), 13-Jonathan Davies (Wales), 12-Jamie Roberts (Wales), 11-Simon Zebo (Ireland), 10-Jonathan Sexton (Ireland), 9-Mike Phillips (Wales), 8-Jamie Heaslip (Ireland), 7-Sam Warburton (Wales, captain), 6-Tom Croft (England), 5-Paul O'Connell (Ireland), 4-Alun Wyn Jones (Wales), 3-Adam Jones (Wales), 2-Tom Youngs (England), 1-Mako Vunipola (England).

Does this give us any clues as to the Test Team?

Not really.
Two Welsh wings will almost certainly play.
Only one Welsh centre is likely to play.
Tipuric/Warburton/Lydiate are likely to take two backrow places.
Hibbard will probably start at hooker.

So there is likely to be a nett gain of 3 Welshmen on that selection.

The more welshies that play in this game, the less likely it is that someone else will play their way into the team. Will take a special performance from Maitland or Zebo to take one of those jerseys.

have a tip for top amateur in the us open Micheal Kim i would suggest £20 @ 7/1 (corals, bet 365) he is another golfer from the university of california 3 of them qualified for this years us open he is the best of the 3 having won 4 college tourneys this year his bio: //www.calbears.com/sports/m-golf/mtt/michael_kim_765403.html  suggests he is a great putter and incredible with a wedge also is a fairly short straight hitter who was awarded the haskins award for best college golfer and he also tops the golfweek college rankings so cannot understand why he is 5th favourite in the betting should be about 4/1- 9/2 imo.

Just spotted this, I missed it yesterday, sorry.

I no longer have any betting rights here, so bumped for the new MereManagement.......

Incidentally, I revoked Chompy's rights to post on this thread in my absence.

He can bugger off.

We'll just have to punt on Big Brother in the dark then without our beacon to guide us.

Present'n'correct...

Big Brother starts tonight, so Ima gonna be putting up bets left, right and centre. Got that tablet(s) ready Mere.

Re: The Sir John Hawkins rebuff, 10-1 is available with Billygoat Hills.

Makes no sense that his ante-post favourite for the 2,0,0,0 Guineas and Derby yet is 10-1 for the Coventry. Adrian seems to look at this as the premier Royal Ascot 2yo race imo. And it's the only one he's entered for.

Suggest £30 @ 10-1, oi oi. Unless anyone thinks it's worth waiting for NRNB? When does this come in at Royal Ascot anyone? Or doesn't it? That question to a member of the Royal Ascot preview show on 861. Or Doobs.

I also have no problem with placing bets with SkyBet.

Aidan O'Brien says Sir John Hawkins could join Stubbs in the Coventry at Royal Ascot. Both are towards the top of the pecking order at home it seems and are joint-favs for next year's 2,000 Guineas.

Stubbs is 7/2 for the Coventry, Sir John Hawkins is 12/1! (Bet365)

Rec £25 Sir John Hawkins @ 12/1

Also, Camelot is 11/4 for the Prince Of Wales's at Ascot but being ignored for the Eclipse on Betty. I've no idea why, Aidan loves Camelot and loves the Eclipse.

Rec £25 @ 17 Camelot for the Eclipse

Bet365 are the only firm with a market up for the Coventry, & still go 12/1, but they only offered me £0.83, so I've swerved it.

Counts as a rebuff, puts you top of the table.

I will lay you a tenner if you like.

Sounds ominous.......you have confidence in Chompy's selection then?

We may as well circulate the money between ourselves.

Yes please, BOOKED.

£10 @ 12/1, Sir John Hawkins, Coventry Stakes, Royal Ascot, with Honest Doobs Bookmakers.

Let me know how you wish me to settle up please.

BUMPED for Chompy.

We are ON Sir John Hawkins already.

Daily Report

Loss on Month £431.68

Outstanding Bets £1242.25

No completed bets yesterday but over £200 of forward bets placed on the Tour De France, Chess, Royal Ascot and Yarmouth tonight

New Zealand's fortunate rained off point against Australia gives us a shot with that bet

Northants scored a paltry 570 against Leicestershire and took two wickets before the rain came

The US Open starts later, where I think we have a watching brief so far

I think that we have the following thoughts on the US Open:

TightEnd

Stenson 70-1    e/w
Weekley 100-1  e/w   (now 110/1 on Coral but only paying 5 places as opposed to 100/1 on VC for 7 places)  (139/1 available on Betfair but not good for places)

No feedback as yet from anyone "putting him off".

moonandback

Michael Kim   7/1 for top amateur  (still 7/1 on Coral)   not available on Betfair???

BigAdz

Sergio 10/1 for top European   (now 11/1 on Ladbrokes which beats Betfair)

Several bookmakers are offering 1/4 odds for 7 places (according to tikay).

Betfair:
http://www.betfair.com/exchange/golf/event?id=26917934   (winner)
http://www.betfair.com/exchange/golf/market?id=1.109739516 (amateur)
http://www.betfair.com/exchange/golf/market?id=1.107320859 (European)

Oddschecker
http://www.oddschecker.com/golf/us-open/winner
http://www.oddschecker.com/golf/us-open/us-open/top-amateur
http://www.oddschecker.com/golf/us-open/us-open/top-european

In the best tradition of shrewd betting I may have a small wager on some or all of those but would like some feedback.
I'll be placing the bets shortly so I haven't given you much time.

Ladbrokes only allowed £1 at 11/1 on Garcia for top European so I took it!
Should we top up at 10/1?
