I think one bet we should look at is WBA away at Yeovil at 4/5, one reason is this price is deffo an old one as it should now be shorter given Steve Clarke has said in his match preview he wants to go well in the cups this season and the travelling squad is pretty strong. I have no doubt he will make changes but these days the Prem squads are pretty talent rich so I am putting this up in the 75 to 100 region at 4/5 with Corals

Yeah i like this too.  I think one thing that tends to be overlooked a bit in the League cup early rounds is momentum and morale and the start to the season.  WBA have had a good start and morale will be high etc and this is prob their best chance of a decent run at something.  On the flip side a poor start to the season can lead to a lack of confidence in these games and more likely to be slip-ups.

One other thing we will both have done in the past when pricing these cup games up  is there is always a lean towards the big teams playing weak sides as you don't want to be 6/1 the outsider when they could be 7/2-4/1 when you see the teams( which could be the case in the Oxford bet) but you could be 4/5 the fav when they should be 4/6 or shorter when you get an idea of their team( as with the WBA bet). I think cup games are deffo a good area to bet in these days because almost every starting price put out will be wrong when we finally get to see the teams. Which is a big advantage over say trying to bet winners in The Prem lge on a Saturday when the prices are the most solid around.

I backed a horse 2 weeks back and although it never won was very impressed with how it ran.  It was out with the washing early having missed the break.  But when the penny dropped it ran on really well over the final 1.5f and wasn't given too hard a ride, Trotter Nicholls did administer a few skelps with the whip but never went overboard.

Look on By - 4:50 Southwell I'd suggest £40- £60 @ 4/1

Thanks, this seems to have been supported by others too, so here's hoping.....

Yeah it is a good point.  In many ways i think the pendulum has swung now to the point whereby the favourites are generally the better bet whereas 5 or 6 years ago you could have backed certain dogs blind and know you were going to get a 7/1-8/1 winner in there somewhere and maybe a few but now they are 11/2-6/1 and it is a bit of a lottery.

Re- Scunny bet.

http://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/david_fox_to_return_for_norwich_city_as_chris_hughton_plans_wholesale_changes_1_1495865

Hughton has said there will be "significant changes", which basically means the reserves from what i can tell.
Why can't I see Scunny bet anywhere?

It is a few pages back mate, a few posts discussing how Hughton (Norwich manager) has history for putting weak league cup teams out.

I deffo think this is true. My biggest 2 footy bet's last season was on cup games in a country where I really think the pitching of favs away at lower league teams is very wrong at times.

Another one for the football tonight:

Sheffield Wednesday beat Fulham.

Martin Jol has said he is set to ring the changes and are up against a team bang in form, we have not lost in 17 games and are a fantastic home side and up against a poor away team.

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/fa-league-cups/fulham-set-to-make-changes-for-sheffield-wednesday-trip-8083904.html

I am sure Mr Kendall saw the Oldham/Wednesday game the other week and realises we are up for the cup after fielding a decent enough side and coming back from 2 down to win 4-2.

A Fulham reserve side away to a full strength Wednesday team and Wednesday are 15/8 (I think this is a good price) to win tonight with William Hill, but I am sure they are bigger somewhere else.

Rec @ £40.

Even the most loyal of Scunny fans would not back them (17/2 available)  against even a Sunday league side from Norwich.
They are playing some shocking football and the manager has said they are playing a far too open style of football and he intends to address this. The more trained eye ( just about everyone else in the ground ) says the team are running around like headless chickens and are getting ripped apart.

Hope this saves people some cash. Might be worth a look at next manager out tho. Brian Laws still lives here and already there are calls for his return if we can't get Adkins back.

Wife knows more than I do and she says the draw looks the best value Smiley

Drifted even further with Badblokes going 11/2, however the winner of the last race has just gone and turned over an odds on shot at Ripon in a competitive little heat.

agreed not so bad when just using maidens as a guide though

would think the drift is more to do with some very big yards by southwell standards having runners in this
