My recommendation for T20 World Cup starting tomorrow:

I am of the opinion that the West Indies are value at 13/2.  I find it odd that they are ranked equally with England, Pakistan and woeful Australia, as well as being behind Sri Lanka.  India are worthy favs but I think Windies are the team to take them on with.

On the batting front, Chris Gayle needs no introduction and is the roasting hot favourite in the top batsman market.  He is assisted by a rejuvenated Marlon Samuels as well as big hitting Keiron Pollard and Dwayne Smith all of whom were big contibutors in the 2012 IPL which was played in similar conditions.  The Bravos add depth, but the key thing for me is they have BY FAR the best T20 bowler in the world in Sunil Narine.  He was the IPL 2012 second highest wicket taker with an economy rate of just 5.5.  The batsmen will be dreading facing him in the death overs when they need to score big runs and he'll shift many a tight game in the Windies favour.

I think they should be 2nd favs behind India, so I've got on myself with a lumpy stake and think 13/2 warrants an interest from the thread at maybe £20-£50.  The tournament starts tomorrow and runs for about a month I think.

Starts on the 18th

Ha - right you are.  I was wondering how it could start tomorrow when Eng are still playing SA and Aus still playing Pakistan.

Uh-oh - knowing the Windies this will give them a week to have an internal falling out pre tournie!

Really?  What a cracking bet that would be now.  Must have been before Narine and Gayle lit up the IPL.

They are my only outright bet of the tournament. I've bought Bangladesh on the spreads too.

Was tempted by Pakistan as I believe they have the best attack in the competition but they batting can be flaky and they have the ability to lose from massive winning positions.

Come on the Windies!

SCD...Not even I watch this nonsense. Wouldn't have a clue what's required in a winner tbh.

Reality bets are popular on here though, with Clary going off unbacked despite 'max' recs from myself, Tighty and the Camel (insert Clary-style 'sticky date' gag). Ridic swervage.

Louis Smith is a local fen-dweller, so seen a bit of him - not the type to do well in a reality show.
I could never back Denise Van Outen at that price.
Kimberley Walsh always came across well in the interviews I've seen.
Victoria Pendleton, no, Michael Vaughan too dull.

I'm guessing this isn't the confirmed list though? Overround only comes to 82%.

Kimberley Walsh (Girls Aloud) - 6/1
Louis Smith (Olympic Gymnast) - 6/1
Nicky Byrne (Westlife) - 8/1
Dani Harmer (Tracy Beaker) - 12/1
Victoria Pendleton - 14/1
Michael Vaughan - 16/1
Richard Arnold (Daybreak) - 18/1
Lisa Riley - (ex-Emmerdale) - 25/1
Fern Britton - 33/1
Johnny Ball - 33/1
Sid Owen (Ricky from Eastenders) - 33/1
Jerry Hall - 40/1

"It was actually tipped @ 7/2, word is that Dubai lumped on, & Mr Channing was seen doing his Maida Vale LBO circuit to invest, & so we missed a bit of value".

It wasn't me by the way.

I'm not sure what the form is with smashing into a price before the thread has even had a chance to get on. I have definitely had bets that I had no intention of having because someone here made a great case for something, but if I had no intention of betting I have generally waited until the thread was on. That has been random though. I guess if someone made a case for something  and I could see the price there and loved the idea I would back it.

With that rugby bet I thought it looked really good and I did check the price as soon as I read Hector's post. It was into 11/4 with hills and was 3/1 with some Mickey Mouse firm. I put up £120 at 10/3 on Betfair and that caused a robot to try and bet it at 3/1 and lay 2/5 the favourite.

I ended up laying £500 at 2/5 the favourite in the end.

Jesus, if Ms Pendleton is in it, I might have to watch this tripe too.

Would have thought Louis Smith had all the attributes to win this?

No mate, ridiculous price!

Just on at 13/2.

Waiting for top wicket taker prices, got a few I like the look of.

I was of course jesting, Mr C. Can't even begin to think what "Mickey Mouse" outfit you refer to.

Once the tip is Posted, people can do what they want. I was on within the hour, & the price had already gone from 7/2 to 11/4, but I would imagine the market was pretty thin.

PS - Nice little result for you, well done on finding a way to get the value.

T20- Aus Vs Pakistan

2 games taken place already, scorecards as follows

http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/571148.html

http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/571149.html

Bet365 go 5/2 No 50. Pitch improved between 1st and 2nd game, but this price still seems way out of line. I'd already gone in at 15/8 with Betvictor, but had to top up seeing this price. Unbelievable. Looks fantastic value to me.

Espn cricinfo writes "Pitch and conditions
The third match to be played on the same surface means there will be greater wear and tear, and less pace for bowlers and batsmen to work with."

Get stuck in
