In MVG we trust. Didn't learn much last night, it was a match he was never going to lose, much like Taylor, slow pace didnt help either. Will learn more about him in the next round where he will be tested. He does appear to have come of the top a bit though, particularly with regards to his finishing.

Thanks Bazza.
Well, whatever happens, we have him in the book at 50/1, so that is some comfort.
I believe his next round is sheduled for 7.10pm on Sunday evening.

Morning Mr T.
I am going to write something I never thought I would. Yesterday Aaron wrote a recommendation and I think you should give it the utmost consideration. It was for a lower division football match and he was advocating the outsider of the 2, something that is very dear to my heart.
As we all know Aaron is in profit on Fred, something he proudly pointed out to us, and that is not easy to do. A few months ago I would see a post from him saying that a 4-6 shot was a great bet. He would get castigated by the masses and a couple of days later be back proposing a different team but at the same kind of price. Well maybe he has learned from Fred and I think you should give him a fair crack.
My areas of expertise do not include lower division football so I cannot say if this is a good bet. But as the legendary 3G said during the Ryder Cup, " Sometimes you just have to go with what is in your pants ". And frankly Mr T, Aaron is what is in your pants.

Ha!
Very good Post hector, good timing, too, as today Aaron has been announced as an "Advent Calendar" chap. I want the Advent thing to finish before I comment on the various nominess, so as not to spoil "the moment" so I will leave it at that for now, but I will comment once the Advent thing has concluded.
The bet Aaron proposed earlier this week - yes, I liked it, & he was very sensible with the stakes too, think he just said £20, or similar, so we will probably get on.
I also agree, he has learned a great deal here, (half the idea, surely?) & it shows in his recommendations.
He gets roundly mocked by many, but yes, he has made a very good profit & ROI on Fred, more than most, though for balance he has only had 4 selections accepted, so our old friend "sample size" rears it's head.
I shall be getting on shortly.
I hope you are well, & enjoyed a celebratory cake, coffee, & dance yesterday after the Sixes bet got home.
PS - I trust you have seen the PM I sent you earlier this morning.

Aaron in the advent calendar ! I think the word "inspired " is appropriate. Would never have happened in a vote.
I got the PM and am chewing the cud over it, not as tasty as cake. No dancing over yesterdays bet as all my energy got taken up by the sweat. You would have loved it if you hadn't been in nod land. 1 six behind and 40 runs needed. Luckily Mr Dhoni is a sensible chap and realised with 5 wickets down, and tons of overs in hand that caution was the watchword.

The Advent thing - well, as I said, I'll comment after all the reveals have finished.
I was pretty certain that the bet was dead, hence I decided to miss the "funeral" & get some sleep instead. Was a lovely surprise to wake up & find the bet had won, in some ways preferable to actually watching the game. I really enjoy the overnights sweats & morning squeezes.
Interesting, your comment on Mr Dhoni taking his foot off the gas. It served Fred well, but cost others, who had bet his "Player Performance". One mans meat is another man's poison & all that.

I'll put one out for Saturday, considering I am in profit on Fred
Notts County v Leyton Orient.
Leyton Orient to win @ 29/10
Orient in good form & County home results not very good recently, with one win, one draw and three losses in the last 5.
Orient won 8 of last 10 games.
29/10 looks decent enough to me & with County playing in midweek, will have a tired side.
Rec @ £20.
OK, Advent Calendar Bloke, suitably encouraged by fellow Advent Chap & Fred Quirky Bloke, we shall have a go at this.
Careful with that "I am in profit though", sample size is misleading!
We have £20 with Ladbrokes @ 14/5, Orient to beat Notts County, Saturday.
Good luck, we can improve your Fred profitability even more if this gets home.

Daily Report as at 1210, Friday 21st December
We lost a whole £8 yesterday.
£33 went south on an NBA Bet, but Mr Reliable struck again, (+£25) with hector giving us that “Little & Large" bet, which got home. Just.
Very quiet week this week, but cash does not burn a hole in our pocket, we don’t need to force anything, & there will be plenty of weekend action.

Afternoon Mr T.
I am working on a big fun Yuletide bet for tomorrow but for tonight I am donning my oft worn nit cap.
Glasgow v Edinburgh has the makings of a low scorer, a local derby, cold weather and 2 teams of about equal ability. Can't really add any more to that.
Suggest £24 under 36.5 points @ 5/6 PP or Ladbrokes.
I am curious though as to how Brobdingnag elicited no response from anyone. I would think Mr Tal would be au fait with 17th century English authors but am I to assume that the rest of you just thought I had mistyped England ?

I'm fine on Swift, thank you.
A modest proposal
is one of the great pieces of satire around.
He was Irish, mind...and it was Eighteenth Century...

Hector, I'll hazard you were awarded a blue at rugby?

No. I went to Manchester University.
Wiki says he was Anglo Irish, whatever that means.

That's just a heritage thing. I think it would relate to when England ruled the Emerald Isle, so the wealthier sorts would have had English ancestors. He was a Dublin boy albeit speaking in RP.
Maybe the likes of Oscar Wilde would be more modern examples.
