There is a big rumour that Sam Tomkins will miss the game.

Good work. Very nice. Congrats.

You too Mr C.

I realy enjoyed the "detail" in your write-ups, & I think I learned a few new tricks from them. I was selective in what I backed of yours, it sort of takes the fun out of it if I just back all your stuff blind, & I wanted to retain some independence of thought, but it worked out just fine & I done well out of TBE.

Thanks for the Miullins tip, too. Wink

** Please get Hector's opinion before doing this **

Lions captain

A Lions Captain has to be sure of his place in the Test team

There are 4 clear candidates

Robshaw at Evens

Pro: Could lead a Grand slam winning team tomorrow
Cons. English/Gatland. Not sure to get in at 6 or 7 ahead of O'Brien/Warburton/Tipuric/Wood/Ferris especially on hard ground in Australia.
Probably a midweek team captain

O'Driscoll at 3-1

Pro: Respected. Should be a shoe-in for Test Team
Cons: 34, injury prone. A back. Captains most often forwards

Warburton at 5-1

Pro. Gatland's captain before. Back in form
Con Does he get in at 7 over Sean O'Brien?

Best at 10-1 plus

Pro Should be first choice Test Hooker
Con Irish team not gone so well this year

http://www.oddschecker.com/rugby-union/lions-tour/british-and-irish-lions-tour/to-be-named-captain

Of the others Ryan Jones is out for 8 weeks injured. Not a sure thing for the Test Team anyway. Can't see any of the others being realistic propositions

(edit Alun Wyn Jones maybe, but Gatland tore into him when he got sin binned against England 2 years ago, said he "cost them the game", not sure Gatland would have him as captain)

Of the leading fancies I far prefer Warburton at the price to Robshaw. Warburton had a world class game changing performance against Scotland, and could well dominate on the floor tomorrow against England

If Wales win, his price won't be 5-1 for long

Recommend £10 Warburton at 5-1 Lions Captain Ladbrokes or Blue Square

I like the idea of Warburton far more than Robshaw, who should never again captain any team after his decision to go for goal against South Africa. I did like my idea of Jones as a team captain but 8 weeks out makes him a no-no. He may take the safe option of O'Driscoll but  he will never last the pace out there. I had not heard that story of Wyn Jones but that must count against him. So go for Warburton and put me down for a dart on Heaslip @ 33-1 who was as short as 5-1 before the 6 nations and despite some average performances I would still have in my team as No 8.

Warburton as per His Tightiness
Heaslip £5 @ 33-1Bet Victor

Rory Best WTF priced from 3-1 to 14-1 !

Done, thanks Tighty, hector.

To be named Lions Captain

Warburton, £10 @ 5/1, Ladfbrokes, down to Tighty.

Heaslip, £5 @ 33/1, BetVictor, down to hector.

Thanks for the good wishes guys - I don't pretend to be anything other than lucky and literally guessed the horses.  But good when the stars align and the bookie gets one in the eye!

For the anyone interested it was a £50 bet, 4xtrebles and 1xquadruple at £10 a line.

Our Conor
At Fishers Cross
Salsify (which was beaten till outrageous fortune!)
Alderwood

Paid £6,375 after Paddy Power "guaranteed price bonus".  I'm not sure what this bonus really is but like it Smiley

When I say "guessed the horses" can also read as "picked the jollies" Wink
