Ladbrokes 25/1

Top work, thank you, & well done on the Phil Taylor bet, great work. 11/4 seemed almost like stealing once he Finalled.

Thanks. When he is in that sort of form he is untouchable.

Yup.

The game was up the night before, Lewis was never going to be able to get himself "up" again after his titanic semi, imo.

Think Lewis got himself up alright, but Taylor just pushed beyond what I've ever seen him do before.

I've only been watching Darts for about 5 years, but that's what I felt after watching it.

Possibly, but I think he peaked 24 hours early. Anyway, when Taylor is in that mood, it is gg everyone.

Hate to be an F in the O but why exactly should mo be such a certainty over any distance Bolt trains over?

I'm assuming you'd all make Bolt clear jolly over 400m?

Bolt's best time (as an 18yo junior) over 400m is 4 second's ahead of Farah's, if i read correctly

I assume the extra 200 metres will see Farah glide through as Bolt ties up as the sprinter muscles give up?

Anyway, horsey was only discussing it ;-)

Some professor type and Jon Ridgeon both said 550m would be the distance over which they'd be closest. I'd take Mo all day over 600m.

7 horses declared in the Sussex Stakes. Declaration of War is 9/2.

25s bar the 3!

more importantly, now quarter first 2 Smiley

Don't worry about how quiet the thread has been, Tikay, Paddy Power are doing money back if 2nd at Goodwood, will presumably be on Hills mobile too.  Bet365 offering to match anyone and doing the free bet if 4/1+.  Tighty was just saying this morning how he was salivating at the prospect.

In good news for Tighty, I am on my way to Scotland for a few days on Thursday and flight, hills, monsters and stuff might prevent me swamping him with bets for the rest of the week.

Edit.  BetVictor money back if 2nd to the favourite at Goodwood too!  Will probably duck it, but guess if they are best priced on anything.

Jennings Bet are on the case, too.

Hi Tony,

This Tuesday sees the start of Glorious Goodwood and here at Jenningsbet we are offering 4 moneyback specials;

1.On Tuesday we are giving moneyback if your selection finishes second in the Lennox Stakes (3.05pm) – moneyback as a freebet on the Maiden Fillies Stakes (4.15pm on Wed 31st July).

2.On Wednesday we are giving moneyback if your selection finishes second in the Goodwood Handicap Stakes (2.15pm) – moneyback as a freebet on the Goodwood Cup (Thurs 3.15 1st Aug).

3.On Thursday we are giving moneyback if your selection finishes second in the Gordon Handicap (2.15pm) – moneyback as a freebet on the King George Stakes (3.45pm – Friday 2nd Aug)

4.On Friday if your selection finishes second in the Betfred Mile (3.10pm) – moneyback as a freebet on the Stewards Sprint Handicap (2.05pm Sat 3rd Aug)

Max refund £25. In addition, WE ARE ¼ ODDS EACH WAY ALL RACES AT GOODWOOD

Jennings bet offered significantly poorer odds than the others last time someone put up one of their offers.  So you get bad odds twice, they pick the race you must bet on, and I don't think they are best odds guaranteed either.  I am not going to bother checking again.

Posted the following on Tighty's football season bets thread but thought it may be of interest in here too, it's got a bit of support in there:

There might be a possible bet at Boyles - Premier League most assists.

Last season Mata was top with 12 - he is 11/1.

Cazorla was second with 11 but he is 20/1. Each way terms are 1/4 of the odds top 4.

Reckon it's got to be worth putting a bit on Santi e/w. What do you think?

Addendum - it has been noticed that different sites have players last year with different numbers of assists, but all agree Cazorla was up there.

I'd suggest a small amount e/w, hopefully for a season-long sweat (barring injury/transfer...) with chance of a big scoop. Maybe £10 e/w?

Boyles have confirmed that they use stats supplied from the Press Association for their markets.

Thanks Mr Womble.

Have been largely absent from Fred since Thursday, & am now on catch up.

Did anyone else have any views on this?

Would be rather good to have a season long sweat at a big price, & it would deffo appeal to Tighty's Stat OCD-ness.

TheDazzler was the poster on Tighty's thread who thought it looked a good bet.

I think horsey's suggestion of Navas could be a good one too, although he is slightly shorter and with all the players City have you can never be sure who will play more games. I'm on him for a little too though.

I know Fred cant get on but Sky Bet seem to be out of line with the rest, on some live cricket tonight

eg Hants "highest first 6 overs" is 5/4....4/7 elsewhere.

looks like a palpable error to me.  They have put the prices in the wrong way round.

yes looks that way....although in the reverse fixture the other week, Kent won this bet!....so maybe Skybet have some shrewd employees  Wink

credit to them....stood a decent bet and paid out.

Think we should just put the one bet on Goodwood tomorrow for now.  We should back Aljamaaheer in the 15.05 at Goodwood with Paddy Power and William Hill mobile.   Paddy Power are money back if 2nd.  I know we are already restricted, so can't see much harm in hitting the max button and taking as much as we can (up to £100).  We are effectively getting 7/2 on a horse that is just shy of 3/1 on Betfair with the best price guarantee on top.   If we can't get that, we should take the £25 with Hills mobile at the same price.

In all the other races the prices aren't that great at William Hill or Paddy Power, so everything looks a bit marginal maths wise.  I will wait to see if anything crops up tomorrow.

In other news, Ladbrokes are offering money back as a free bet on match betting if Root top scores for England.  Given they are top price about the draw and beat Betfair.   There is a possibility of some rain, given it is in Manchester and it needs no excuse to rain there at the best of times.  I think we should put £50 on the draw in the next test match at Ladbrokes (9/4).  Root is about 4/1 general to top score, so we get a refund 15 to 20% of the time we get a result.  £50 is the max refund).

£25 ew Anticipated at 4/1 for the bet365 offer seems mandatory.

Was going to post this before the game vs. Sussex, but waited until afterwards.

Jackson Bird Top Aussie wicket taker @ 50/1 - http://www.oddschecker.com/cricket/ashes/top-australia-bowler

Wickets so far:
Siddle - 11
Pattinson - 7
Harris - 7
Starc - 5
Smith - 4
Agar - 2
Watson - 1

50/1 for a reason as he's not guaranteed to get a game, but I believe that price is a bit too long.

If Jackson Bird is picked for the 3rd test then he will almost certainly take the new ball as he did in the tour game and his first couple of tests, and it'll probably be Starc who will miss out - Surely Harris plays as Australia must win, and there's been no talk of him being rested for the next game. Think there's a good chance Harris doesn't take any further part in the series if Australia lose, and if they win do they drop Bird? Probably not. Bird almost certainly plays the remainder of the series if he gets picked for this test, barring injury.

Peter Siddle has 11 wickets already, but Bird will have the advantages of:

- Being virtually unknown in Test Cricket, and to the England batsmen (See the impact Philander had when he started playing Test Cricket)
- Taking the new ball, whereas Siddle will remain first change.
- Better FC strike rate (Probably bowls a couple of overs less than Siddle in a day though)
- Possibility of Siddle being rested if Australia are 3-0, 3-1 or 4-0 down? Maybe not as I can't remember Siddle being rested before, but there's no chance Bird comes in then gets rested.

To be top Aussie wicket taker, I think Bird needs to take around 20 wickets in the series, maybe a couple more if the Aussie spinners continue being useless. Certainly possible if he plays the remaining 3 tests, picks up one or two 5-fers in that time, and picks up a few wickets in the other innings. Was really impressed by him when he played his first two tests against Sri Lanka. It's between Starc and Bird to replace Pattinson, and the 50/1 being offered by some bookmakers atm is a little bit too long to ignore. Think it's worth a couple of quid.

Hi Andy,

Love the enthusiasm, & a nicely presented suggestion.

Have you had a bet accepted by Fred yet?

Our Cricket Guru is not keen on this, at least not until we see the Teams, but the price qualifies it as a genuine Banzai, if nothing else. Be a helluva sweat if he took a bunch at Old Trafford, too.

Let's dither for a day or two, but if you have never had a bet accepted by Fred, will will dabble for small stakes. The more contributors we have, the better for everyone.

Thanks.

Don't think I've had anything on here accepted yet, no.
