Next question

Why on earth are Stoke only joint favourites at home to Swansea?

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/stoke-v-swansea/winner

Stoke City have lost just one of their last nine Barclays Premier League home matches (W4 D 4 L1).

Swansea have lost six of their last nine Barclays Premier League away games (W1 D 2 L6). Only two goals away from home in this time

I can't see the confidence in Swansea going to Stoke straight after a big local Derby where they played above themselves

It's a let down game right?

For discussion

Newcastle United v Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham go to the North East and are as short as 5/4 favourites for the match, reflecting Newcastle''s recent poor results with Remy suspended and Cabaye sold.

I can't help feeling that the 23/10 at home Newcastle is a price that has to be backed

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/newcastle-v-tottenham/winner

Trends are not supportive: Tottenham have won seven and lost just one of their last 10 Barclays Premier League away games and Newcastle have now failed to score in six of their last seven Premier League matches.

Surely they will get up for this match and give us a run at greater than 2-1?

Tottenham also do concede goals away from home, as they did at Hull and Swansea recently

It is very contrarian, nearly 75% of the money appears to be for Spurs  from oddschecker graphs but surely Newcastle are way under 2-1 at home against Spurs at many other times?

Newcastle are a team we have struggled against since Pardew took over. The results haven't really reflected that in fairness.

Wouldn't laying spurs be a better bet if you can get 4/5? Pardew will go with two banks of four and look to keep the goals down to a minimum, hoping to play on the break. That's what he's done every time we have played.

Interesting sight at Prime Minister's Questions today with Mr Cameron surrounded by female members of parliament. There are no accidents in these things. A statement of intent for the upcoming Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee announcement in the next week?

c and p sporting life at cheltenham decs stage

--

Just 11 horses remain in the Stan James Champion Hurdle and, at best prices, The New One is favourite.

Nigel Twiston-Davies' horse was runner-up to My Tent Or Yours at Kempton over Christmas but is no bigger than 3/1 to exact revenge and win the big one on the first day of the Cheltenham Festival.

In contrast, My Tent Or Yours can be backed at 5/1 along with Our Conor, as Hurricane Fly challenges for favouritism with The New One.

The Fly is 11/4 favourite with Sky Bet and William Hill and 3/1 generally, but 888sport are keen to get the two-time winner in the book at 100/30.

Annie Power is the potentially fascinating one at 8/1 with the sponsors. She remains in the field but also has an entry in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle, for which she's 3/1 with Paddy Power and William Hill.

---

Big Buck's remains favourite for the staying prize at 5/2 with Paddy Power and Coral, and there were no significant absentees from the latest set of entries.

---

Hidden Cyclone is the notable absentee from the BetVictor Queen Mother Champion Chase having traded at just 12/1 yesterday.

Sprinter Sacre does feature and is 10/11 with Paddy Power and 888sport, ahead of 11/4 chance Sire De Grugy.

--

Last Instalment remains popular for the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup at 10/1 with 888sport and as short as 7/1 elsewhere, with reigning champion Bobs Worth a strong 9/4 favourite.

Like this.  Sides are broadly as good as each other, so Stoke should be favorites.  Sure Neil would tell you to play the Betfair Asians though.  Just don't ask me which one to play.

If it makes any difference to you guys its not stopped raining in Stoke for at least the last 3 hours and the wind seems to be picking up. Could be argued as a positive or negative in my eyes and the wind can certainly whip up at the Britannia as seen in both games vs Man united this season.

GB lose in the curling.  Presumably this means we likely get a tough semi against one of the top 2 teams?  Anybody confirm this?

Ladbrokes today At Fishers Cross £25 max at 8/1 from 5/1 (their normal price) for the World Hurdle. 7.8-20.0 on the machine. Ok value but not amazing. Until 1.30pm by the way.

Absolutely pissing down in Newcastle, the only time it stopped raining over the past few days was last night when it snowed heavily and blanketed, wouldn't surprise to see the same tonight. Not sure I'd wanna be betting on anything in this weather, who knows what will happen, tho I'm imagining your fancy dan southerners won't relish it as much as us, if only in terms of the support. Lots of anti-Ashley protests planned tonight btw, but these seem to galvanise the support in the ground for the team.

Newcastle won't be playing two banks of four, always play 5 in the middle, tho Ben Arfa is lazy. Not sure we'll be playing on the break at home tho, we do that against the top teams, Man City and Chelsea notably (and pretty successfully) but to those outside of White Hart Lane I'm afraid Spurs are just another team like Newcastle, trying to get in the minor European places with no chance of breaking into the big boys' gang.

PS without Cabaye Ben Arfa is on pens and Santon some free-kicks, I backed them first goal on Sat at 25s and 100s, won't get those prices but at some point....

Lol rubs! You're right. More like one bank of ten Wink

However badly Newcastle have been playing, they always seem to match us for most if not all of the game when we play. Maybe it's the lure of the million pound bonus from Mike "I hate spurs" Ashley?

Any price on whatever happens, Pardew says you should have won?

Obviously, I won't be around if we are losing...

I am going to  bang that Jimmy Walker drum one last time

He started 28 on betfair for this tournament last season as a non winner

As a now three time and the most in form player on tour he is only a few points lower

That makes no sense to me

I don't think it's a bad bet for a sweat, as imo the market hasn't quite accepted his transition from journeyman to regular winner, but back to back winners are very rare.  If the thread can get on with Satan he's 6.5 place only, so something like £2 place for every £1 win.  If not he's 23 top price for each way on Beifart sportsbook.

Just noticed with Satan going for enhanced win only and top 5 as separate bets is even better.

I looked up 2010 and it appears to be different than i thought it was. 1v4 2v3 with 1 & 2 having the hammer. Finishing 3 isn't a huge deal.

Missed the game today but i hear it was a good game and Eve went for it rather than take an easy tie break with Canada having advantage.

We're still ok but i guess it'd be a mucher bigger price if backing now Sad
