If we're fairly sure that, if Hamilton winning the F1 garbage means he's pretty much got SPOTY in the bag, there's an easy enough trade. Back him at 4.5 for SPOTY and lay him at 2.24 for the F1. I wouldn't know for sure that it's that clear-cut though.
Back Westwood at 80 and lay him back at single figures for the Open just beofre he coughs it up?
Don't like the market tbf.
RAISE
I personally think its time to scrap the award in it's present name/form as it's become a bit of a joke in recent years.

What price do we want Wilkinson? I can't believe after all this time the thread has been going, that the price still isn't mentioned anywhere.
The each way frims are 12/1 best with a fifth first 3. So we are backing a long term odds on chance if we think the best he can do is place.
It is virtually an arb on Betfair, but that would take a lot of money for a long time so that isn't really an option anyway, just saying it is there.
To me this looks like someone has had a good idea at a big price a month or so ago, and it has filtered down to here too late.
The Market is just like one of those bad sellers @ Yarmouth or Brighton, you go through the card & strike out those who cannot win, & nobody is left.
There must be a winner though, & with MardyBum a false favourite imo, there must be some value somehere.
Maybe Mardy is the best of a bad bunch. "
Personality
" must have a special meaning in SPOTY.
We must be due the annual Kinboshi definition soon.

You not think this mardybum bit just shows your bias?
The personality thing doesn't mean much in this. There have been several other notable dullards have won it over the years. Froome wins teh Tour De France or Hamilton wins the World Drivers Championship, surely wiining the Rugby World Cup in a team game several years ago doesn't cut it?
Nigel Mansell won this when second in the World Championship and I certainly wouldn't even put him ahead of Hamilton. That goes for both personality and talent.
the F1 season ends with double points in Abu Dhabi. this is a week or two before SPOTY
He's currently 30 points below Rosberg but i think we can assume he'll be within touching distance for double points to matter in that last race
if he wins the F1WDC, there doesn't seem to be a SPOTY alternative.
is hugely popular (not on here) with masses of fans
i think we are struggling to find a springer to go against him!
we are on him at 9/1 for SPOTY and the market has broken v well for that bet, on account of no one else doing anything. just needs to win the title now

Get on the dog to them, chief!
Once they're aware of this, I'm sure they'll jog the SPOTY as we know it on, and it will be replaced with something more fitting
FWIW I agree...

Notable dullards?
Think they were on the Pyramid Stage between
Vintage Trouble
and
Peatbog Faeries

Yes yes, I confess to bias. I don't take badly to many folks really, it's not in my nature to diss everyone, but when it comes to MardyArse, his lack of grace & dignity when things don't go his way appals me.
Maybe he needs blinkers, a tongue strap, or even gelding. The latter particularly appeals, the threat of that might just do the job.

Should be like gymnastics: you get a mark for how good you did sport during the past twelve months and another mark for how chirpy or tearful you were during and after you were doing sport. Multiply them and Bob's your uncle.

Welcome home Mr T.
It seemed like a fun trip to Vegas and I loved your reportage. Shame a bink never happened but with your new aggressive tactics that was always more likely.
I think there is some value in the Wimbledon outright market. I backed Dimitrov at the beginning, but my concern was his draw. Having a route of Murray, Djokovic, Nadal would be very tough. However Nadal lost, and the manner of yesterdays win makes things a whole lot easier. Djokovic had problems with Cilic and Dimitrov is far better than him. If Dimitrov beats Djokovic I would make him favourite for the final, but I expect I am alone with that.
I think the bookies must have big liabilities on Djokovic, which may be why we can get 7-1 for Dimitrov.
Suggest £20 Dimitrov @ 7-1 with Betfred, Paddy, Ladbrokes.
By the way I am in agreement with Wilkinson as a SPOTY bet, but I still think Mardybum will win the F1 and if he does then will win SPOTY too.
Morning hector, & yes, it's good to be back at home, & in harness, so to speak. Thank you for the kind comments about my bloggage.
We have £20 @ 7/1 with BetFred, on Dimitrov Bloke winning the Wimbledon thingie.
BET PLACED

Also, Hamilton has had some car issues in recent weeks, no reason why Rosberg wont get car issues later in the year if not this weekend.
Must confess though I'm a Hamilton fanboy.

Dont forget we have the open this year to come on bbc and it is ryder cup year. Justin Rose will be in both and should go well in the open. He starred in the ryder cup last time around and has become much more of a world star of late and is liked more in general by the public than he has been in the past. If he stars in the RC this year and we win it and has a good run at the open (expected) he could be ew value at 75/1 with PP for SPOTY
RC is also v close in timing to SPOTT so fresh in the mind bias over events earlier in the year will play a part
