Rory is currently 1.3 for The Open. If he wins that he looks more than likely to get top 3 in SPOTY. That seems even more likely if he wins by a street. I think lewis Hamilton must be the same, even if ends up 2nd in the Formula 1.
Right now there is £586 lined up at 1.89 for Jonny Wilkinson for top 3 in SPOTY. Just to be open, I already have a liabaility of several hundred pounds on this ber, so am unlikely to personally add to it. I haven't been having the best of times with this bet after the Froome and Cavendish withdrawals, but right now things are looking up.
Just opening it up for discusion really. Of course Rory isn't a certainty yet and has suffered a few collapses this year, but we have 5 months for somebody else to appear and Wilkinson looks in trouble. Given the weight of money waiting to back Wilkinson, I expect we aren't going to get many opportunities to trade out, so this could sit around in the portfolio for months.
Anyway, I think we should take some of this, whether it is just to cover our bet we have or reverse it, I'll leave it up for discussion. Things are likely to change by tomorrow, so if nothing is decided before Rory restarts, then we need to give it a miss. Would hate for us to take it after Rory has imploded.
edit 1.16/1.17 now!

I recognise I am massively biassed on this bet, am happy to have a discussion, and see what others think. Thought we had more on to be honest, was thinking about £50 before you posted. Will really leave it up to the discussion. Not sure how long that money will be there though, given I have put this up.

I was just about to post the same thing about SPOTY surely Wilko is a lay for top 3 odds on now? Must be a lay at 11.5/1 for spoty outright as well surely? I couldn't have him on my mind even before rory hoses up. Yet someone still wants nearly £700 at 11.5 on betfair.

Wow. Top tipping from Mr Channing!
Awesome. 25/1 this morning. Got the 3rd, too, I think.
What have I missed?

Incred moment just been televised in the Test Match.
Beefy and Warne were gently ribbing a pro photographer of some repute, Bill Brown, so the TV cameras panned across to Bill.
Who promptly "waved" back at the commentary box.
There will be hell to pay on Monday in Sky HQ.

Rory decent arb at mo. 2/1 for sports personality with lads and some1 wanting a chunk on machine at 2.5.
Personally would just back him at 2's rather than arb it as I wouldn't want to tie up cash so long on betfair.

Valverde looked like he's had quite enough of this cycling lark as he crossed the line. Lost some ground on Nibali (whose continued dominance no doubt the internet warriors will be making all sorts of remarks about) and Bardet has closed the gap to second.
Seems like we're aiming for a place, although that's all we expected was likely anyway.

Jeez, Neil must have tipped up loads of winners on here and I've missed every single one of them!
Now McCoy is the leading jockey and on course to be the first to win 300 in a season is 100/1 for Sporty something we should be on, especially since he's come third twice?

McCoy 5/1 to ride 300+ winners with freesixfive if you fancy him to do it. Some effort if he does.

He won it a few years ago.

Sorry, "on course" was a little strong. In with a chance maybe?
