Gambling Commission website shows 'PinnacleSports Application in progress for UK Gambling Licence'
Pinnacle tell me that they didn't get turned down and that 'We plan on relaunching our application, but cannot provide a timeline.'

What are the key reasons for getting accepted/rejected for a licence? Is it just down to paying for the POC tax or other factors as well?

Can anyone provide a list of countries where Pinnacle will allow accounts and also if you are in one of those countries are you allowed more than one Pinnacle account ?
I may have a cunning plan.

It's going to make a big big difference to the pro punting community for sure. Pinnacle won't be happy either as they will have made a lot of money from UK arbers as their price was always the 'right' price to lay in the vast majority of arbs.

Anyone know the stance brokers (asianconnect, sj etc) are taking on this? I'd guess it won't be a problem but I don't know for sure - seems a bit odd people talking of quitting the game when it's fairly simple to move over
I use an "intermediate" bookie at the moment that offers all the asian sites and I don't foresee any problem with them - the one downside is they only offer football, tennis, basketball and NFL.

I assume this is them. https://secure.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/gccustomweb/PublicRegister/PRAccountDetails.aspx?accountNo=34351There is also an individual who has applied for a license under the pinnacle sports name. Of course this doesn't mean they don't already know they will be rejected, but the status is consistent with their statement. I wouldn't be so quick to judge the gambling commission early, for a long time Equitable Life was the darling of the press and middle classes and had lower charges than anyone. Sure everybody wasn't positive when they were forced to shut to new business. Edit, number got cut off in the link rubbish try this http://search2.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/Search/SearchResults.aspx?k=pinnacle and click on the operator box

Most of the bets placed so far seem more like hopeful punts rather than value spots

The address of the UK ltd company is as you would expect just a brass plate outfit. Click to see full-size image. |
And the Companies House entry is uninformative. Click to see full-size image. |

lithuania bet dead in bball. USA won easy and should do the same in the final. Harden joint top scorer as we speak so another big game in the final and we could still win the MVP.

Its not just a brass plate. They have an office in the UK.....unless all my mates that work there that I have met for a beer in London were just coming to see the brass plate that is.... It is the agents that are the problem. If you get a lot of your custom through agents then paying a POC is impossible when you only get 20-30% of the action in some cases but are paying POC on the full amount. The agents arent going to pay it because they are not licensed. I guess firms like Asian Connect may try and offer a way around that but it becomes very dodgy imo and Pinny went down that route with the US and it didn't end well (indictments etc) so I doubt they would be keen to allow it again.

Can anybody compare the odds that hull had at the start of the seasons compared to now? In terms of handicap odds.
I actually really liked their summer activity. Diame, Ben arfa and Ramirez could play for any team in the premiership of they were managed well and I feel Brucey gets that. Livermore and huddlestone have given them a little bit of a base in midfield and the new signing seems like a goalscorer.
I really like the look of them this season, would their odds have changed in the West ham game much compared to 2 weeks ago?
Obviously I'm saying this because they were in Europe and now they are not and that would have been in the price initially for a lot of their base prices and their squad was really thin at the time.
I'm probably going to back them for the next few weeks and fancy a big one vs west ham this weekend.
6/5 with bet victor.

What are the key reasons for getting accepted/rejected for a licence? Is it just down to paying for the POC tax or other factors as well? Whether or not the company does, or has, operate in "grey" areas where such action is not or may not be legal. So even though the Licence is to be allowed to operate in the UK, they are looking to reject businesses which operate or operated on the fringes of or even outside legality elsewhere. Hence the BIG headache that 'Stars have right now. For Pinnacle, the bigger problem would be the 15% POC tax. That would be difficult, given they operate to thin margins, albeit in huge volumes.

Dunno if this helps Pleno but I've been monitoring their season long point on the spreads. They went up one point after being knocked out of Europe and half a point when they made their deadline signings. So bookies have reacted but not that much.
