Think shelvey is and will be a good player myself tal

Years in reserve teams and subs benches have not helped but all that time lallana was racking up games in league one and the championship. Natural talent wise not much in it

Good stuff Chompy with the Liverpool top 4 bet

Oioi

He's a talented player, but he's also a complete liability. In a big game, you know he's up for it, but you also know he's going to lose any sign of composure at a crucial moment. Sterling is a better comparator: poor disciplinary record but has largely behaved himself much better in big games. Uses his aggression much more positively these days.

That's mainly because he has had relatively few full games at the top or even the next level

Not sure why comparing to sterling? !!

Just on the point of mental side really, which I'm sure is where Shelvey is lacking most. I'm sure I remember reading Sterling used to be a bit of a bad boy as a youngster (happily withdraw if not).

Yep not sure he is still a model pro off the pitch tbh

Shelvey switches it on when he can/ can be bothered not unusual in players his age in that position

Hope he develops

Is there a "ready reckoner" sort of tool available for predicting correct scores based on the actual price of a home/away team?

I'm sure they used to be published on the back of the coupons but haven't seen an actual paper coupon in a few year.

Surely that pays out ahead of Pardew, who hasn't officially left the club yet?

I missed the boat, sadly, having had some information that West Brom was waiting for this weekend's match before moving him on. He had been told he was off whatever, essentially. Can only surmise they have had a quicker route to a replacement than anticipated.

John Carver and Steve Stone will be in charge for Newcastle's next two matches, not Beardsley unforch

Was Colocinni widely considered management material before now?

It is reported that Pardew doubles his salary with his move. Is this evidence that Ashley is looking for a cheap option?

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/fabricio-coloccini-set-for-newcastle-united-job-9949277.html

He was persuaded to return to England by Ashley and the then Newcastle managing director Derek Llambias and it is believed that the possibility of succeeding Pardew was mooted during the lengthy negotiations to bring about his return. Since then his influence has grown and he played a major role in the decision to ostracise Hatem Ben Arfa at the start of pre-season when the mercurial French forward was not allowed to train with the first-team squad after two dressing-room clashes with Pardew.

Coloccini signed a new contract in 2012 that keeps him at Newcastle until 2016, but a new deal will be negotiated if he succeeds Pardew and becomes player-manager of the club. It is unclear whether he has the required coaching badges but Newcastle could look to give him a lesser title if there is a problem. He could be handed the job on an interim basis to begin with.
