I'm surprised Gold Cup day is bet on more than Champion Hurdle Day.
Am I the only one who thought Monday and possibly Tuesday were by far more exciting to bet on and watch than a mediocre day in Friday with only one standout race, being the Gold Cup which I can't get excited about this year.

I know it's not 'League of Legends', but I think to say this is mediocre is miles off, imo!

Prospective Champion Hurdlers in the first.

Next years RSA hopes in the Bartlett.

Gold Cup.

Get me out stakes in the last!

practice 2

Practice Two timesheet: 1) Rosberg, Mercedes, 1:27.697; 2) Hamilton, Mercedes, 1:27.797; 3) Vettel, Ferrari, 1:28.412; 4) Raikkonen, Ferrari, 1:28.842; 5) Bottas, Williams, 1:29.265; 6) Kvyat, Red Bull, 1:30.016; 7) Sainz, Toro Rosso, 1:30.071; 8 Maldonado, Lotus, 1:30.104; 9) Grosjean, Lotus, 1:30.205; 10) Hulkenberg, Force India, 1:30.473; 11) Nasr, Sauber, 1:30.755; 12) Perez, Force India, 1:30.980; 13) Button, McLaren, 1:31.387; 14) Verstappen, Toro Rosso, 1:31.395; 15) Ericsson, Sauber, 1:32.303; 16) Magnussen, McLaren, 1:33.289.

Ricciardo, Massa, Stevens and Merhi did not set a time

cliffs

Mercedes up to a second clear of the field
Ferrari, Williams, Red Bull best of the rest
Ferrari's long-run pace looked very solid, although their position ahead of Williams may be fuel-dependent.
Huge problems at Mclaren, 5 seconds off the pace

qualifying overnight tonight

Hamilton is 11/10 in one spot only for the race and Rosberg has been backed in

mechanical problems aside, its a two horse race

http://www.oddschecker.com/motorsport/formula-one/australian-grand-prix/winner

without Mercedes, Vettel is an underdog to ottas, which piqued my attention

http://www.oddschecker.com/motorsport/formula-one/australian-grand-prix/w-o-mercedes

No Mclaren to finish is into 2.75, we are on at 3.65

http://www.oddschecker.com/motorsport/formula-one/australian-grand-prix/mclaren-total-finishers

FP1 made me laugh - I suggested a bet on Bottas to top the session because Mercedes may hold back. As it goes, I was right! Both Lewis & Rosberg clearly had more time on the table .. and yet they're still a second ahead of the field! Williams and Ferrari are in for a shock come qualifying tomorrow, the gap will only grow.

Quite surprised SPIN only docked McLaren 7 points or so following tha debacle.  They've hit Red Bull quite hard and boosted Ferrari.

Verging on complete incompetence from the McLaren squad!

What happened?

Not like Dear Ron to be incompetent.

its Honda's first F1 engine for 5 years, and the spec is very different from the regulations of 2009-10

they've hardly tested, with no reliability and even before the free practice performance this weekend weren't expecting to win any points before they got back to Europe 5 races in

only so much you can do in Australisia when the test beds are in Woking....

McLaren have been saying that they will develop as the season progresses and could well win a race by the end of the year - that's utter rubbish. They will develop, but only slightly given the restrictions on in-season engine development. McLaren will start this season at the back and may jump one or two teams during the season. Points will be a struggle all year for them though.

I'll re-review the markets later and get back to you :-)

Peter - I assume you are massive unders of McLaren points at 155?

How bad do you think it could get for them?  Surely they will outdevelop teams over time?

The fact that the Gold Cup is on at 320pm on a Friday makes a huge difference.

People have half a day off or make it a long weekend and take the day off , or just leave work a little early.

Personally I think its a cracking Gold Cup because it is so competitive , you could have got 11-2 the field.

Not excited about odds on shot's and small fields but then again that might be because I am the enemy Grin

Holywell is a decent price now. Bulletproof cheltenham form (won at last two festivals beating ma fielleule and the package last year) then went to aintree and utterly stuffed don cossack and many clouds at aintree over the extra furlong. Dont think the ground helps, more so because it helps a few rivals then hinders him.  Hes been overjudged on his campaign which I dont think has much bearing, hes only been laid out for one race.

looks a bit of a slog out there in the last race, is it playing into Many Clouds hands?
