Betting for the PL is interesting;
MVG - 4/5
Cross - 7/2
Gary 11/2
Peter Wright 8/1
Gurney 33/1
Barney 33/1
Mensur 40/1
Smith 66/1
Price 80/1
Whitlock 150/1
If you'd have told Rob Cross a year ago he'd be 7/2 to win the Premier League I think he'd struggle to have believed you
.
Gary, and Gurney look interesting to me. Gary probably still second best player in the world on his best day and Gurney lost his mind vs Hendo in the worlds, but this format is very good for him, the big stage vs the best players he's very comfortable with now and 33s look big to me.
Find it hard to make Mensur longer than Barney for this - I'd happily lay whitlock at 150/1 and Price at 80/1. Micheal Smith could just light up and have one of those years Chizzy had a few years ago where he missed a double to top the table, could also get bashed up again like he did on his last participation, like Bazza said needs to get to a good start.
Think i'm gonna have a little nibble on DG at 33s, and consider a bit of Gary at 11/2 - 1/2 odds ew with B365

Depending on the price I might be looking at backing Mensur to finish bottom or get relegated.
Been a big fan of his in 2017 but he did look to be off the boil at the worlds and having rejected a premier league place in the past for family reasons I could see his motivation being affected by all the travelling.
Whitlock would be a clear fav for me in these markets, I'm disappointed hes in the line-up. I know he had a good Grand Prix when finishing as runner up but other times I've actually seen him on TV recently hes been poor (I know he won a couple of big floor tourns earlier in the year).

Never watch darts, but had a bit of a read tonight about this Cross guy, what a story! Delighted for him.
Whats up with the usual negative arseholes about Phil Taylor? Seems like a decent bloke who’s done a lot for the game over the years as well as being pretty successful. Maybe jealously from said arseholes as they are losers in life?

Maybe an idea to find out a bit about it, and then start piping into the 'negative arseholes', Woodsey

True mate I accept that, but the same could be said about arseholes who know nothing about rugby and cricket but still are dickheads and chirp off about the supporters they don’t like for no reason other than they are chavs that don’t like ‘middle class’ sports

Taylor is the GOAT, but probably the biggest ***** of all time, too.

Fair enough, in my limited viewing I haven’t seen much of that. Suppose it’s a bit like Ronaldo who is awesome as a footballer and a bit of a prick at the same time, but you can’t help but silently respect him.

Crowd were ridiculous but at the end of the day darts is sold as a laddy night out and the snakepit crowd is now part of the game, its not nice when you're MVG and you care about the worlds more than anything else in the world and everyone is booing you when you have a huge dart...but, at the same time he's world #1 this is part of it and he certainly can't blame the crowd for losing the game. Would much rather see it not happen, there's a line and the crowd did cross it.
Rob Cross though, what a fucking guy, world #6 - he is world #6 and hasn't even had his tour card for 12 months yet, as far as an achievement goes it's breathtaking. If he wins (which he might!!!) he's world #3 for gods sake it shouldn't be possible! From Total rookie to World #3 in 12 months, it's 1 in a 100 lifetimes will never happen again. This is the most competitive sport around atm too - out of the 8 quarter finalists 4 of them started the tournament outside of the world top 20!
3 best games of the tournament have been Cross vs Demitri, Cross vs Smith and Cross vs MVG. It's just amazing.
Now we have Taylor's last ever game in pro darts and it's in a world final, can't write it, speaking to Kev Allen yday he said if you wrote this story down in a book you'd hurl the book out of the window and call it nonsense, as a darts fan i'm just absolutely buzzing for what happened
amazing day! What a sport - 2 years running it's been the 2nd biggest sport for viewings on sky sports and it's not gonna stop! Next step, get those euro tours on TV, before too long will be £20k FTW in the pro tours, £50k FTW Euros, £250k ftw majors and £750k for the worlds. Darts unstoppable force, it's fast, action packed, got big personalities, super exciting, easy to follow.
Taylor's dominance of the sport is unprecedented in any other sport in history, 30 years since he started he's still comfortably top 5 best players in the world and gonna retire as world #3 there's just no words for it.

Think I owe Lil'Dave a drink. Fairly sure he tipped Rob Cross up way back in June.
I think you might be right , I've got a 66/1 ticket and I would never have put that on without a recommend. Thanks Dave or whoever it was.
You're welcome

Barry did say they were looking at a big announcement.
It's amazing the money it generates for a pub game/hobby.

its unstoppable the darts, unstoppable.
Need the rest of the majors to get increase in exposure and prize money too now to balance things a little, plus (and I know I'm a broken record) but we need those euro tours on TV!

I like Gilliland today at Lakeside. Came through the qualifiers taking some decent scalps. Thompson has looked pretty hopeless in the WS events in Australia. I can’t possibly have him favourite here today.

Jeez this was unlucky - Gililand lost after missing eight match darts.
